Having watched the Bruins since I was kid and having seen the Nutcracker several times , I'm embarrassed that it was only recently I realized the song was actually a rock 'n roll-ish version The Nutcracker Suite.
1:57 I had that poster on my wall for years. I think it came as an insert in the Globe. I could name every one of them, even the trainers, coaches, owners and front office guys. Played a golf tournament about 20 years ago and met Ken Hodge (Sr.). The thing about watching hockey on TV (especially of the 70s vintage) is you don't realize the size of some of these players. Hodge even in the early 2000s was a very large and muscular man. He must've been a scary sight for opposing players.
I remember growing up watching the Bruins with my dad and later going to my first hockey game I always watched them living in the area Then i moved to S CA and they never mention the Bruins. A few years ago i had no idea they were in the playoffs with Vancouver until a friend from Canada told me and i loved seeing them win the cup
I loved that! When I was younger and followed the Bruins closely-knew all the stats, etc., in the 70's it was great! Never missed a game and got tickets for my birthday one year. Remember Phil Esposito's hat trick? It was so great! I used to like Derek Sanderson as a young girl. I got his book for Christmas when I was about 12 or 13. My father was friends with owner of a car dealership near us where he was making an appearance. Hundreds of people were waiting outside in the winter waiting. Suddenly we all saw him pull in the back in a flashy red sports car. My father took me to this event as a surprise and told me to bring my book. When we arrived the owner of the dealership came out, waved us through the crowd, and I went in. They brought me into an officee and there he was! I couldn't speak! At some point I uttered "hi", I think! He signed my book "Peace" and his name. I was sooo starstruck, and felt like such a big shot when they waved me in, separated the crowd so I could get by, and all the people were were looking at me like "Who the hec is she?" Definitely a highlight of my young life. Bobby Orr was a nice guy. We ran in to him at the Sportsman Show in Boston, and a couple of other places-stores that I don't remember now. I do remember that he was so polite and friendly. You could tell that he appreciated his fans. Absolutely loved the Bruins in the 70's!
The Song is called Nutrocker. Emerson, Lake and Palmer at there Best. Believe it or not, I saw Emerson Lake and Palmer. Play this in the Boston Gahden in 1978. The Place went Ballistic. Perfect song to be played in the Old Boston Gahden.
When I was a kid growing up in Roxbury my friends and I loved the Big Bad Bruins. We watched every game and knew all the players. We'd travel to other neighborhoods to play street hockey. A lost era.
50 years ago I watched these guys growing up in western Mass…….50 years later I type these words on a computer to strangers who watch a thing called "YouTube" from Austin Texas….today we make "wireless"phone calls while we ride in what will soon be electric driver-less cars
Awesome! It brings back so many great memories growing up in Boston, watching the Big, Bad Boston Bruins! I loved those guys! May their spirit be with this great Bruins team today!😊
