Elliott quoting Ted DiBiase 🔥
If we were to trade him, we better be getting a top 6 forward in return
One idea that comes to mind would be a leafs trade for a guy like Nylander in return. Obviously we would need to add to that deal in order to land Nylander (perhaps a first + Dube or smth) but it makes sense for both teams looking to make some necessary changes
Why does everyone want to get rid of this guy? I hope we keep Hanifin, very good defenseman in his prime who’s been relatively healthy his whole career. I’d like to keep him and keep the defense as strong as ever
We really need to keep him. Obviously if he isn’t willing to sign an extension then he needs to go, but I don’t think we should trade him otherwise. He’s a great player and still pretty young
Offer him a contract, he doesn’t sign? Trade him.
I feel Hanifin is more going to be traded for draft picks (so we can use them to ditch 1 bad contract onto a another team). Trading just for another large contract player doesn’t make much sense for Calgary’s cap hit.
Calgary has always been good with defence and have an exceptional depth with them. Utilizing the younger players for cheap cap is essential.
Only way Hanifin should be available right now is if we are getting an under 29 1st line caliber forward or a top 20 pick in this years draft. Otherwise we should be trying to re-sign to a deal similar to Weegar after July 1st. Then only if he doesn’t want to stay and the defense market is dried up completely should we look to move him
1st round picks for next three years and your first born would do.
