I think Barkov would be fine if he loses the C. It helps him to be able to focus on hockey and not the interviews and other off ice stuff.

Couple thoughts… Love the channel btw. After two first game losses Barkov has been criticized here on the Finnish media for not showing up at media afterwards and so on. To me it feels stupid since Barkov is more an example leader type than vocal media person plus what's the point of putting the captain in front of the press after a loss game anyway? Take blame? They have better things to do in the locker room I would think. One another thing that I've been wondering actually through the season is, how much injuries does he have and how bad. As the playoffs stretch on, we almost certainly know no player is healthy and most are playing with some sort of pain medication that what I've heard of, usually lasts roughly through a perioid or so. So. I don't know but I'm guessing… He might play way more injured than it shows (as we know it really don't show even player play with broken feet amd hands, crazy). If this is true… who in the right mind would use him in front of the media grinning and maybe worst case, giving clues of what his injuries might be to the other team? Anyway. Matthew is doing absolutely great work as an alternate handling the media and doing it so well, he should do that part. The captains as well are a team inside a team. Cheers. 🙂
It was only game three. Had the Panthers lost the game their season would still be alive. For all intents and purposes.
I think it might actually be god for Barky to get some rest from the duties of a captain. He's not so comfortable in front of the media like Tkachuk is. By this he could put all of his focus on the game and be even more productive on the ice.
Unfortunately the money speaks louder than magic here. Boy, wouldn't that Tkachuk jersey with the 'C' sell pretty well.

I think Barkov is a wonderful leader and deserves the C, but when he retires or maybe if he is willing to give up the C Tkachuk is the first in line

Barkov is Captain and will stay captain of the Panthers. Tkachuk is a very unique player and let him be that. Barkov is a leader and its still his team. Outsider chater means nothing, the Panthers fans know Barkov is and will be the one wearing the C.
It would be a huge mistake making Tkachuk the captain. He’s a little too volatile. Look what happened to Jamie Benn. Great player, but players like him and Tkachuk sometimes cross that line that could deflate a teams mojo. When you’re the “leader” and screw up like Benn did, the rest of the team is like “wtf are you doing dude? That’s not high IQ hockey, and you’re our Captain doing shit like that?” Barkov is their rightful captain and Tkachuk is perfect as an assistant.

Along with pseudo-punks like Bennett, a franchise that once was respected for its hard, but fair play, has turned into one of the dirtiest, if not THE dirtiest, on ice. Sad.
People seem to forget the SOLE reason Tkatchuk left Calgary was because he demanded the C and the Flames refused to give him the title… Florida should 100% give him the C next season, hes a born leader.
