Spectacular rookie showing. Presented as one of the best players on the ice for both teams. I'm a little worried with the pressure cooker Leafs media can be, but he sounds level headed. Totally look forward to following his career!

If there's any sort of justice then here's hoping the Leafs keep Simmonds for one more year & the 1st time they play team rat (Florida) I hope he tunes in that nut-job Bennett. What a pure bred rat. I have not forgiven Florida in game 2 for targeting Knies, who they undoubtedly knew had already suffered a concussion, when 1st Tkachuk elbows him in the head while he's pinned against the boards by Staal, (another quasi-rat). Then later in the game Bennett & Knies come together, with Bennett putting him into a head-lock, driving him helmet first into the glass, then pulling him down to the ice while STILL IN A HEAD-LOCK & then, concealing it with his back from one of the refs, gives Knies a short punch to the head & skates away leaving Knies obviously concussed to wobble off to the bench.
I thought the NHL was cracking down on deliberate hits to the head in furtherance of 'player safety' yet there's whatever spineless f*ck of a ref who watched the entire Bennett assault on Knies & that useless f*ck calls nothing. The league fined Bennett after the fact, likely on a complaint by Toronto. To be clear, I don't mind clean, physical hockey, or fighting between 2 willing combatants, but what I hate & have always hated is the greasy dirty rat-f*ck behaviour employed by Tkachuk, Bennett, Gudas, Reinhart, Montour & Cousins et al.
The NHL is the most spineless pro league when it comes to protecting it's players. I gotta say, absent a dog in the fight, it was heart warming to see, 1st Gudas, then Tkachuk get cleanly sledge hammered by Barbashev & Kolesar respectively. It couldn't happen to two bigger rat cowards, who generally go after guys they know don't chuck 'em after the whistle. The tradgedy is, Tkachuk is a highly skilled, clutch player who simply is too good to have to play in such a despicable, dirty rat-like fashion. Just sad that he thinks that's 'winning' hockey.
