1. Canucks receive – Laffrienier
Rangers receive – Garland (30% retained) , and either Klimovich or Rathbone. ( in my opinion, it’s time to move on from Rathbone)

  2. The Canucks make these crazy, crazy moves and go nowhere with them. I really believe the Canucks should trade Demko and start from the draft. Demmer keeps the Canucks entertaining because they win games when they should be getting high picks. i'm not a scout, just a fan and been referring hockey for 15 season and playing hockey my whole life. hockey is for young people, Canucks want 25 or younger players, Hornek is 25 and i bet a good D but man, no Canuck prospects and have a team that is in nowhere land for the draft while icing a 25 year old team drives me nuts. even if by chance they make the playoffs then what, i don't think they have enough grrrr. to make a good run. i don't know… it's been a long time since the Canucks had it, that Chicago playoff win was dope because it was the last time the Canucks really had a chance to win the Stanley Cup.

  3. Would do it for sure. Better upside. Gotta make moves that can elevate us, even if it doesnt end up working out. Gotta try.

  4. I think Parker said it during CAD a couple weeks back, but we shouldn't be sweetening the pot to move Garland. His contract is pretty cap-friendly for what he puts up numbers-wise, and it's only getting more cap-friendly as the cap rises.
If the Rangers (or anyone for that matter) want him then I would consider retaining no more than 25% (1.237 mil) in return for Lafreniere, but at this stage I'm not convinced we should package anything else with him unless the return is helping us more than a middle-6 winger.

  5. perhaps a moron GM like Benning would trade for Garland. Don't think NYR would take on Garland's idiotic contract. Only Benning would give Garland that ridiculous contract from the 850K he was making. Did I say that Benning is a complete idiot????

  6. i'ld do the trade if they either get a 3rd team involved or got chicago to do that trade of picks, while taking one of our bloated contracts. so it's for myers, boeser or beauvillier. that would solve our cap problem too.
    cheers lad.

  7. putting myers in the minors will save 4 mill cap wise not sure that's enough to get under the cap, but a option if no one takes him for a million and his 6cap hit

  8. To clear cap yes. They cant be adding picks to make deals. This cap crunched basement dwelling team needs to hold onto draft picks.

  9. In my video I talked about these points but my guess is that at 21 years old Lafreniere want $5M AAV.

  10. 1 for 1, sure, but depends on what his next contract would be.

  11. The Canucks are talking about trading Connor Garland for future considerations and throwing in a draft pick in the first or second round sheer utter insanity I rather not give up Garland for nothing

  12. I would make that deal if we didn't attach any additional sweeteners but I doubt the rangers will considering the profile of lafreniere.

  13. “We need cap space!”

Trades 2 picks in a loaded draft for Hronek

    “We need cap space!”

  14. Haha sucker.. piggy-backing on NY Posts Arthur Staples musing?? Click Bait Clay

  15. Why would you have to retain salary and throw in a sweetener when garland is a better player,

  16. This topic is going to be beaten harder than a dead horse..

    My take:

1 for one 1 straight across i have no problem with, even though Laf has not come anywhere close to being a true 1st overall pick.

If we have to add a sweetener to make this deal happen – absolutely not.

Im not very high on Laf as it is.. for a 1st overall pick his career has been underwhelming to say the least.

91 points in 216 games isn't good enough to replace Garland, and we also don't need any more wingers either.

At the end of the day – this trade is a hard pass for me.
