Great news. Hope Fitz can chew Meir down some. Agree, Meir is not worth 9 milllion. Would like to see Haula, McLeod, and Bastian back with the Devils as well. Hate the offseason. Cannot wait for October.
Its an overpayment at this moment. Maybe in the future it looks like a solid deal as contracts of other players get more expensive around the league.

Meier is a tough cas because hi #'s have him compared to guys like Pastrnak and Tkachuk, but for the category he's placed in, I don't think I would want him over any of those other players. Devils may need to work out a short term deal with him for 3-5 Years
Dougies making 9 mil AAV. Palat makes 6 mil, which included a 15 million dollar signing bonus. Are both players worth that much right now? Timo will command 9 mil plus on todays market, esp with the cap going up significantly next yr. 8.75 – 9.1 mil for 7 yrs for Timo.

With Bratt, you always want less as a fan because you want to retain every good player on this team. From what the media has been saying Bratt got what was expected. I really think the Cole Caufield signing set the AAV for the market but it was also in line with what Kevin Fiala, and Andrei Svenchnikov made with their contracts.

Since Jack makes 8mil , it would be fair to expect under that for any player on the roster . Now , when Bratt almost reached that limit , it will be hard to contain Meier’s contract under . Anyway , it will be nice to see all the top guns making similar money which doesn’t create unhealthy atmosphere inside the team .
Just wish Holtz would take the next step then we let Bratt walk & sign Timo 🤔

Timo I hear wants 8 also…which I'm not sold on.
Especially, while NJ still needs a top tier l legit goaltender a still needs to lock up Mercer for the next decade.
