PLD tank his value. He's asking for 9 million and its his 3rd team he quit on since junior. L.A is not parting with Byfield or even Clarke. The Jets would be lucky if they get Turcotte, Durzi and a 1st. L.A got Fiala from Minnesota for a 1st and a mid prospect and hes a better player than PLD

I didnt know they value Byfield that low,i know the 3 goals but agree with Andrew he seems just on edge of turning upwards. Like Cozens
Hes only 20 turning 21 he could still have been an over ager in CHL yet hes been in NHL.
I do agree a 3 way trade would probably be best they would need to move Arvidsson/Iafallo/Roy/Moore and we dont need those players nor would they want to be here after LA.
Maybe they get cheaper options from other teams.
Or could we add a Chisholm/Barron/Harkens/Gustafson/Appleton/Stanley who dont make alot but we would need more back.

I think if the Kings negotiate a contract with PLD’s agent and the Jets agree with the player(s) the Kings offered them, PLD will sign the 8-year contract at say $8.5 M AAV with the Jets who would trade him immediately.
PLD might like LA so much that he won’t want to join the Habs.
Hilarious with all the bluster about LA being ahead of Montreal for a trade destination this video basically poured a ton of cold water on this. Also kills the whole 9m contract aspirations

Worked in LA hockey scene in 90’s..there is a great French Canadian group there so would not surprise me to see PLD turn up there..
Byfield is fascinating because he seems so unaware of his own prowess…if he integrates his innate skill tendencies..seems like he needs a more low key venue. Personally see him more like a Brent Burns not in personality or playing style but as a guy who was intriguing transformed into defenseman. Byfield would benefit from more space in that context.
LA traded once for Pacioretty and he refused to sign in LA because the offer was too low. That's how Mtl ended up with Suzuki. Imo LA is not paying PLD 9 million.
Again PLD can just leave July 1st on a one year RFA sheet which means a 2024 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Clock is ticking on Winn to get a better return.
Quentin Byfield will not blossom with the Kings. His trade value is still somewhat high enough with some teams. I would look at other Kings prospects in a deal for PLD. Byfield+, okay.
Byfield at this point appears to have a ceiling of about 10 goals and maybe 10 -15 primary assists at best.
Wish it wasn't so.
