I don’t remember any Canadian team having problems retaining American players before 2020, and I think this problem has gotten worse for most Canadian teams. My guess is the bubble playoffs and lockdown season soured a lot of Americans on playing in Canada.
I could be wrong but I bet players who are too young to have experienced that are no more likely to bolt than Americans have historically been.
