Had a win for the good guys this week! There were two puppies in Denton County that were being held for animal cruelty and the owner petitioned the court to get them back. The hearing for the custody was yesterday and the court ruled to seize the puppies and award them to Great Pyrenees Rescue Society! Upon speaking with a woman from the rescue, she said that there were many supporters in the courtroom along with a writer for the Denton newspaper. There had also been a plea for people to contact the court with requests for the dogs not to be returned to their abusive owner and it looks they were flooded with emails. Due to animals being property in Texas and having no rights, I firmly believe that if this had gone unnoticed then the court would’ve returned the property to their owner.
This hearing was solely for custody of the dogs and Jonathan Fredi will have his court date for the animal cruelty charge at a later date.
When these puppies were found wandering around they had their muzzles taped shut with electrical tape. They couldn’t eat, drink, pant, or defend themselves in any way. His story is that taping muzzles shut is his way of “training” dogs to not be aggressive to chickens. So he kept these poor puppies locked outside in a chicken coop with their muzzles taped shut. The black one had wounds from being attacked by a rooster at the time of their intake. On the stand yesterday, he lied and said he never did that even though he had previously admitted it and gave the sob story of his three year old missing the puppies 🙄

The puppies were estimated to only have been 3 months old when they were found. But in the weeks since, they have grown and flourished.
The bad part is that this is not a slam dunk animal cruelty case and it isn’t guaranteed that he will get convicted. And there is no possible way that anyone can prevent him from getting other dogs to do this to. There are SO MANY backyard breeders/people who have unplanned litters so he can just get on Craigslist/Facebook/nextdoor to get new dogs and repeat the abuse. He doesn’t seem to have shown any remorse or realize that what he was doing was abusing the animals.

What’s with all the Dellandrea hate I’ve been seeing lately? Dude is a 22 year old former 1st round pick who was pretty solid in his first full NHL season.

I commented on the one last week but really late so don’t think many saw it, but Target has Stars merch on clearance right now with a buy one get one 30% off NHL items on top of it! I got 3 t shirts the other day for around $10-11 each that were normally $20-30. They also had those nice thermal cups & wine glasses with the Stars logo, your store may have more but this was at the Haskell one near downtown.
