If they do the core 4 again my mind will be blown. You simply can't have depth that way, we beat Tampa this year but it was still problematic. If they can't get it going then we don't score consistently

I think they should resign all the same players on player friendly deals for as long as the player wants because thats worked perfectly so far.
I think Marner is more valuable than Nylander so I think Toronto shouldn't resigned Nylander especially when there going to resign Auston Mathews
The entire cap increase next year will be consumed by Matthews and Nylander. There is no escape until Tavares is off the books unless Marner is moved

out of all the core 4, I'd rather see Mathews get traded, and Ik everyone says he's the Leaf's franchise player, but when Mathews is not in the lineup, Marner and Nylander pick up their game majorly, and the Leaf's team as a whole plays better and wins games. Another reasoning is the fact that in the playoffs Mathews is invisible, and does not do anywhere near enough a "Franchise Player" should for the skill he is supposed to have, and the amount he is getting paid. I do not believe he is worth how much the Leaf's would be paying him if he will just continue with the same playoff outcome, especially if they sign him for 8 more years.
They should trade one of Nylander or Matthews for back end help unless they want to keep the same successful formula they’ve had ….
Toronto could do it if they stopped trading draft capital. If you have all your cap tied up in a few players you have to replenish the rest of the team through the draft

They have to cut it out with these no trade clauses. If a player wants that kind of job security they need to take a huge pay cut. The only one who took a slight pay cut was Tavares, but he got a full no trade clause out of it and now his contract has aged poorly. The others also have modified no trade clauses but they didn't even have to take a pay cut to get it. Ridiculous.

I'm sure Dangle would love a no cap so they could spend money like the Yankees and Dodgers in MLB to win. Unfortunately that doesn't always work and would love seeing the excuses why leafs lost. The Tavares contract is why they are in this predicament. Great player but name another 11 million dollar second line center.
I don't know how anybody argues to pay more for players whose current salaries prevent the team from attaining the defense and goaltending it needs. While it's said that doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is insanity, I'm more inclined to believe it's flat out stupidity.

Keep Nylander and trade mathews for the assets Toronto needs to become a contender.
There’s only 2 years left of JT. Hold on for two years, let JT’s contract run out. He’s likley to sign a very team friendly contract at the end. ‘25-‘26. Why get rid of one of the big three younger players at this point? Just wait out two seasons, roll with what you have try to inject some youth. Use that time to develop some of the younger guys. They aren’t winning a Stanley Cup with or without these players. They may be in a better situation with JT as a winger in a few years at $4mil team friendly deal.

Later in the podcast, they were talking about how Treliving was giving contracts to players into their mid 30s and yet they want to give Nylander a $9M contract into his late 30s?
Sell Nylander on the cap rising in a few years and get him to sign for 3 or 4 years for no more than $8M. And if he is still a fit in years 5-7, give him another 3 year contract with another bump.
If he’s not taking that move him while he is hot to one of the 22 teams he’ll accept a trade too.

Marner is the one you need to make the call on. A trade with him changes the team significantly (better or worse) and can net you a significant return as he has two years left
Nylander is the only leaf consistent in every playoff game to score or assist out of the core 4 to me id try to trade Tavares or marner get 2 great players for 1
