  1. Finally!! so happy there's no Hollyweirdos involved and an owner that wants to win and has experience doing it. Massive win for Ottawa. This process was agonizing and I am personally looking forward to the end of the Melnyk era and the beginning of the Andlauer era! Perphaps Andlauer sells his minority share in the Montréal Canadiens to the Kimmel group🤣

  2. The drama is finally over. Sadly, it sounds like the GM and Coach will be looking for work elsewhere. Think Dorion has done an excellent job, and survived with sanity intact after working for Melynk. What does this do to proposed trades and UFA signings? Is there a freeze, business as usual, or somewhere in between? The purchase price is an eye popper, way more than what I thought it would be. Rest of the league owners have to be very happy with the sale price.

  3. This is awesome news–long=term financial stability is crucial for the teams' future success, so, IMHO, this is very, very good for the franchises' future–deep pockets is always reassuring–and the on-ice product is close to being very competitive on a consistent basis.

  4. Patrick Roy pour/ for coachs,,, avec les sénateurs/ coach for the senator,, I'm in,,, bye bye aurevoir Canadian de Montreal, Allo Patrick Roy in Ottawa

  5. First impression: Seems like the right bid was chosen. Someone with:
    > deep pockets
    > Ownership (albeit 10% but still) of a team in a big hockey market, as well as ownership of an OHL team. Knows what’s involved and what to expect owning a team.
    > Experience on the NHL Board of Governors
    > Familiar with Bettman and the other owners already. This also means he may have connections to bring in experienced people (I.e Staios).
    > Has the passion for hockey so is in it for more than money.

The 2 keys here are going to be:
    1. As a passionate hockey fan, can he leave the hockey decisions to the right people and let the management, GM, etc do what they need to do. Don’t get overly involved.

    2. Lebreton Flatts. Living in Ottawa, I have first hand experience of how this city messes up ALOT of things. If you are unfamiliar with the Light Rail system here, do some reading online, it’s almost unbelievable. What will the process of building a new arena look like (if it even happens). Melnyk did not have a good relationship with the mayor/city etc. hopefully Andlauer can build the right relationships. How involved will the National Capital Commission be? What other problems are going to arise?

Super happy for the Sens and that this is done. Let’s hope everything else falls into place too.

  6. What kind of dayJob earns you the type of money that put NHL teams within your budget: questions you should ask yourself when your young

  7. Good for the Sens!!!!!
Getting all this business settled should help the team continue its development. They've got some top end young talent and good vetran presence…..now they'll shake up the admin and coaching and set their sights on getting the team into the playoffs for starters.

  8. Ned Lamont, the Governor of Connecticut, will have an ownership group purchasing the Coyotes from Alex Meruelo and relocating them to Hartford for the 2023-24 NHL season, so the Coyotes will become the 2nd incarnation of the Whalers and use the XL Center as their temporary home before moving into their new 18,500-seat hockey-specific arena across from Trinity Health Stadium on Huyshope Avenue between Masseek and Curcome Streets, which will be constructed, built, and open in time for the 2025-26 NHL season.

  9. Now what’s Alex Debrincats excuse for wanting traded? Such a joke nowadays. Before players would just be happy and grateful to be in the league, 3:21 but now these guys have more say than the gm. Such a joke now.

  10. $52 B net worth David Thomson and Winnipeg car dealer Mark Chipman each chipped in a mere $33 M to purchase the Atlanta Thrashers in 2011 and move them to the Peg and their team’s worth is around $700 M!
