picks or another young D / D prospect please

To be clear, it’s not that he’s demanding a trade immediately but it sounds more like he’s made it clear he won’t be signing an extension:

    > All signs point to defenseman Noah Hanifin not wanting to extend with the Flames, so that situation is likely headed for a trade.

  3. tristan1616

Probably not the most ideal situation but if Kylington returns to form and we sign Stecher we should still have a solid defense.

Trade Hanifin for a top six rw

  5. Varides

Looking at Buffalo as a trade partner. They have to have some decent assets for a return

OK, that’s one out. Any fire to that musing of lindy and hanifin for Columbus’ #3?

  7. I’m not sure I’ll miss him too much.

The real takeaway from that article:

    > The question is whether Conroy will be able to convince enough of these guys to extend and stay on board. His optimistic and positive demeanor is his greatest asset as a first-time GM.

    > **“He’s the Ted Lasso of NHL GMs,”** one agent said of Conroy’s likable personality.

I’m totally fine with this. We have a solid D core without Hanifin, especially with Kylington coming back. I’m sure he will be a bit rusty, but it looks like he is training hard right now. Would be great to sign Stetcher too for extra depth.

If we can get a top 6 winger or significant draft pick for Hanifin, then it’s a win in my books.

I’d like to see Hanifin stay. He’s a 26 y/o top 4 defensemen who does a bit of everything.

However if he isn’t willing to commit to an extension or the price to extend is too high I would also be ok with moving him.

With Weegar, Andersson, and potentially Kylington coming back Top 4 defensemen isn’t as big of a need as keeping Lindholm for our future Centre depth.

I think the best trade would be one for futures. 1st + a prospect or 1st plus 2 2nds. We can then re-sign Stetcher still have a really good D-Core and be cap complaint.

I think this summer teams across the league will become really watered down as the effect of a cap that hasn’t grown in 3 years really starts to hurt teams trying to win.

If to become cap compliant all we have to do is trade Hanifin for future assets I call that a win

I don’t trust LeBrun at all.

Welp. I guess that settles that.

Hanifin has an 8-team no-trade list he’s allowed to submit. You have to figure the other 6 Canadian teams are on it so that’d probably be a no-go on trying to pursue DuBois or Debrincat or something, but there should still be lots of other options.

About a $5M cap hit, so that shouldn’t be too hard for lots of teams to absorb. Potentially packaged with Vladar, we could potentially be looking at like a $7M player coming back?

I wonder if Conroy is going to be talking to his old teammate, Rob Blake. LA doesn’t have a lot of D locked up and their goalies situation is pretty open (they probably like Korpisalo, but they haven’t signed him yet – plus Copley is expiring soon and, as a 31 year old backup, I don’t think they’d sign him to a deal with much term). I would love to bring in a guy like Kempe (3 years left @ $5.5M). Kings locked up Fiala for 6 years so they might be a bit more comfortable trading Kempe if it means they can get Hanifin. That’s my baseless wild speculation for the day.

It would be awesome if he remained a Flame, but I would also be excited about what Conroy could fetch for him. Amazing player and in his prime, should be a decent return. Flames are in a position where they can afford to lose him and I think it would be smart to sell high

  14. askariya

Well that sucks I wanted us to trade Tanev and sign Hanifin

  15. Pikachu_smokes_darts

Hanafin for Nylander 1 for 1 no takesies backsies

  16. Paulhockey77

We can get a huge return for him. A top 6 forward, a first round pick and potentially more. The market for defenseman is pretty scarce

  17. NDPathetikk

But I thought getting rid of big mean Sutter solved everything!?! Fukin entitled brats.

  18. Trufflehunter89

    Alright no more Americans lol.

  19. Thickwall

Surely we have to get more in return for Hanifin than Philly got in return for trading Provorov?

  20. CorrosionRF

    Weegar/Andersson
    Kylington/Tanev
    Zadorov/Stecher
    Cheap 7th defenseman

Flames have a bottom 10 prospect pool, this is an insanely deep draft. Trade Hanifin for picks and put his cap space to the raises that the other guys will eventually need. Sucks that he doesn’t wanna be here but it seems that’s the way she goes.

Dang. Calgary can’t seem to keep anyone. Hoping new management will change that culture
