Ehh.. I get it I really do.
However wonder how Pyotr feels. Letting him occasionally hop in and out of the lineup. I see his need to develop but I hope it doesn’t sour his attitude towards his future here.
Given the inconsistency and the injury history, I would just hope that a Freddie contract is incredibly team-friendly.
I may be a minority in this opinion but I don’t think we should keep both. I want to see Pyotr starting more next season
Would love to see Pyotr start more, but he’s still not quite there yet and I think 1 more year of him getting some mentorship from the vets + being G3 could only help.
Should be able to get both back at an overall discount (bit less for Freddie, a bit more for Anti). Let Pyotr cook in the AHL.
Spend more on the other end of the ice.
TIL that Pyotr still has one more year of waiver exemption. I was always under the assumption that if you were on a 1-way deal that you couldn’t be waiver exempt.
I’d be fine with keeping them both as long as the cost doesn’t interfere with getting the scoring and toughness that is the missing piece on this team.
An Andersen/Raanta tandem with Andersen/Kochetkov or Raanta/Kochetkov when one of them is injured is pretty strong goaltending. Keep the D as good as it has been the last two seasons and improve the scoring/power play and toughness for the playoffs and this will be one awesome team.
Shouldn’t be running it back with both.
We need to be running Pyotr in a consistent role if we truly believe he’s the future in net.
Freddie played his ass off in the playoffs and deserves another shot but as much as I love Raanta he isn’t able to play enough games to be worth it. Team knows this too and he’s only getting older.
