  1. Never mind Brodie. Dumbest buyout ever if it happens. Why is Keefe still there? Him staying there means another playoff exit. Boy is Treliving pretty slow!

  2. Bodies has not been worth his contract. His play gas gone down, Treeliving let him go in free agency to Toronto at his price. Makes sense the GM would not be interested in this guy and wants to use his cap space for a better D Man.

  3. Rielly – Schenn
    McCabe – New Player
    New player – Liljegren

With Brodie gone, Gio and Timmons as the 7-8

Leafs need another puck mover imo and then another guy with snarl.. so we'll see what Brad does.

  4. Mike good too see you back from an avs fan good luck in the future and yes I agree with other comments at least buy out Murray but there should be a sucker out there for Brody in a trade.

  5. Mike Brody is ok in the season but is no good in the playoff’s that’s why leaf fans want him gone if he was a 3 mil player ok but 5 mil is too much for him.

  6. Kucherov under 10 mil point under 10 mil stamkos under 9 mil this is a smart team when they negotiate leafs on the other hand are not.

  7. Only reason i talked about buying out brodie was to try to explain why his buyout would make this upcoming year's cap hit for him 0.

Keep him or trade him for space im indifferent to either option. He is fine while he played
, you should only buyout a players if its a player making 1st line money but playing on fourth, or if someonenyou really want to keep needs a raise, like with OEL in vancouver. If the llayer is serviceable then play him lol.

  8. Hilarious. Now that everyone knows that Holl is a UFA and gone, the focus shifts to another defenceman to pick on and blame for everything that went sour or will go sour. Brodie is in the last year of his contract. He has been pretty decent over the years. Slowing down now but really no worse than Giordano who needs to retire.

  9. Brodie, I have no problem buying him out or trading him. His age and smaller size showed in the playoffs. Liljegren can play to his standards already.Leafs need more size and presence on the blue line.

  10. Buy out Brodie. NO. Trade Brodie. For whom? Assistants for Keefe. How about BB or Muller. Someone with head coaching experience who could take over if they decide to end Keefe's lame duck year.

  11. Brodie sucked in the playoffs and was overall pretty unremarkable in his time here. Send him packing and make room for someone else.

  12. It’s very frustrating to hear they’re probably bringing back the whole gang! Who the hell’s going to be excited to know there’s not going to be any playoff success again next year??

  13. Only reason to buy out Brodie is if they their eye on a big trade …. Karlsson? He is a true difference-maker, especially in the playoffs.

  14. 100% bonkers. He’s been arguably our best defenceman the last couple seasons. Though this years playoffs he was a bit… mid. If Treliving prefers a different look on the back end than so be it, but yeah you just trade the guy. Definitely has asset value.

  15. I’m not saying buy him out, but Brodie was atrocious in the playoffs! The fact you say he’s the best, or second best D the Leafs have explains why they continually go nowhere in the playoffs.

  16. Today we live in an age of instant gratification, everyone wants to know everything RIGHT NOW. Any time we have to wait for anything out jumps that limited attention span and speculation runs wild, leading to crazy click bait non- stories to replace the NEWS we want to hear. Love Locked On Leafs, you guys are doing a great job!💯

  17. Your point Dave, about trading Brodie is not crazy talk. The Leafs (according to one rumor yet to be substantiated) want to rebuild their D-core – we could probably all get behind that. Maybe they have insight that tells them that they could net positive on a trade for Brodie. Value for value in a deal would be worth consideration. Maybe you could get an equivalent player who is cheaper, or a younger player with more term. Maybe you can get a winger in return that would fit in a deal for a better defender. We can't see the cards they're holding, but a trade could make sense if it makes them better. However you guys nailed it – he's a very consistent player, with one year left on a good value contract. He'd just be way down my trade priority list. However, a buy out would be an act of sheer insanity because you could get value in return for him without all the damaging consequences that a buyout would bring with it. This is the kind of stupid blather you hear in Toronto sports.

  18. Only in Toronto do people bring up incredibly assinine ideas. Who started this rumour anyhow? 100% on board with Mike! Keep your voice out there. It's needed for the logical well educated Leafs fan! He was your best D man last year. At worst, Tre trades him. He's a top D asset. How in the world does a buyout even make sense??
