I actually think — like tons of people in this community — the Leafs will be improved by NOT having Holl in lineup next year. But, what I can't understand, is if Holl/Kerfoot weren't in the long term plans then why weren't they dealt at the deadline? Hard to believe that neither player had any value to rebuilding teams, especially Kerfoot. I felt Dubas did a good job at trade deadline, but it sure seemed like he needed to make one more deal.
If it turns out Dubas was tinkering with the day-to-day lineup decisions, then that says a lot about Keefe — I don't think top shelf coaches would tolerate a GM meddling too much.
Last year was my first year as an all-in Leafs fan. So, I am probably more optimistic about the core 4 and thinking they made progress and earned the right to take it to next level compared to long-time fans who've dealt with so much frustration. There was soooo much focus on winning in round one that once they did, it was almost like they'd already won the Cup. The Leafs looked lost and distracted in that FLA series.

The Leafs Executives by keeping the existing core 4 and paying them top NHL player’s salaries – is getting pathetic and not really fun and interesting anymore. My time as a Leaf Troll is ending – that is how tragic I see this Leaf team. Brett Hull & Matthews should not be compared with real Generational Players like Gretzky and McDavid. Take care!

Get rid of the coach he is soft on. the players trade Marner deal with Tavares no trade clause and move him or buy him out then look the Mathews problem in the face and say let's sign you or we trade you before your no trade clause locks in
I don't care whether if you're in the ohl, khl, triple a hockey, peewee etc. If a player isn't performing up to the level what he should be at or is playing like a p*$$y then u bench him! Not one time have I seen Keefe bench a player (4th line doesn't count) in the past 4 years he's been here. Doesn't matter how much money they're making or their ego 🤬

How can you build around the core 4 contracts with anything but a bucket of scrubs? Truthfully it's unrealistic to assume we can fill a depth lineup with underpaid contracts, which just means it's going to be the core 4 contracts and their band of merry men
Come playoff time the core 4 look like cute well groomed poodles put amongst a bunch of dirty, mangey pitbulls, Rottweilers and german shepherd's.

Extending Keefe and keeping the Core 4 is a 'mistake'? That's a stretch in my opinion. Great idea to keep them. Our top priority should get rid of this ridiculous defence and overhaul the 'flank guard' (read: wingers), then change our strategies as much as possible – and maybe then, the Core 4 can score a lot more! I agree that the Core 4 are ineffective in the playoffs and are useless at times, but getting rid of them is NOT the answer!
