I get it in the sense that they are covering their asses, but I thought the special warm ups were pretty neat. Just kinda shitty that a few people being pissed off by the rights of people caused that to go away. The slight silver lining is that at least the warm up tape won’t go away.

  2. Massive-Particular51

I always thought the sweaters were cool. I also respected people decision to not want to participate.

  3. FUBAR202

So then we better not see military, cancer/diseases, first responders or First Nations themed jerseys worn on ice.

  4. cote112

They were all just ways to make more money anyways.

  5. Reallyme77

The way people erupt at each other in public these days it’s probably a wise move to avoid confrontations at the games. Especially games kids attend frequently. Sports being a place to forget the world for a few hours is fine imho.

  6. Mr_Sausage__

They’re probably tired about people from all sides of the political spectrum getting faux outraged at whatever cause they’re supporting at the time. Honestly, probably a smart move. Avoid the needless distractions.

  7. GroundbreakingCow775

Check our your Detroit Red Wings in their 31 Metro Detroit Ford Dealer warm up jerseys!

  8. GLFR_59

I don’t care how unpopular this may be.. it’s for the best. Don’t promote any cause on a league basis. If teams want to individually support community initiatives, great do it. But let the teams decide what they want to do.

  9. PhilThrill623

    Arizona Coyotes. Just ’cause.

  10. tcrex2525

I assume that means all the ugly military night jerseys are gone too. Otherwise this is some BS.
It was all just a cash grab anyways.

  11. Optimal_Hunter

Fuck this league. Only league where acceptance is even a question. Can’t wait for Buttman to be gone

  12. Double_oh__7

Good, can we ban national anthems too and heroes of the game? Sick of all this political crap. I just want to watch a game.

  13. This_Cable_5849

I respect all sides in this. It never bothered me and I think they were cool items to auction off for good causes. But I think this is the best decision.

As a gay man, I hate when companies (yes, the NHL is a company) do something to “entice” more customers. A lot of them are not part of that celebration/support throughout the year, but one day of the season is enough for them. Many of the owners donate to politicians and causes that don’t align with lgbt causes, and that’s why I hate when they go “pride.”

  15. SL_1983

The jerseys are doing “more harm than good”.

    So we’ll do nothing.

Satisfying the intolerant asshats who attempt to hide their choice to hate, behind an ancient book of sky fairytales.

    Good job.

  16. Skarimari

That green St Patrick’s Day Oilers jersey is going to be my retirement fund some day.

  17. Chipazzo

So does that mean no more…
    – hockey fights cancer jerseys?
    – military appreciation jerseys?
    – St Patrick’s jerseys?

  18. InterestingCell6403

This is great news, fuck yeah 👌

  19. superstarrr99

Good!! Every league should do this.

  20. HamBoy2

Not surprising that the most conservative and whitest league does this.

  21. g3ckoNJ

If the NHL really cared they would ban Fanatics jerseys instead.

  22. Jasbuddy

Unfortunate, a great idea would’ve been having the events go on for each team and let the players decide if they want to wear them or not, but people bitched nonstop and now the league wants to remove itself from the culture war

  23. the_sylince

“Teams will still celebrate Pride and other theme nights, including military appreciation and Hockey Fights Cancer. They’re also expected to still design and produce jerseys to be autographed and sold to raise money, even though players won’t skate around with them on during warmups.”

In case you didn’t read the article

  24. SnooHesitations1965

Bigots have run this BS. NHL is run by cowards

  25. theTallBoy

    Shitty.

If I see some military/law enforcement jerseys, I’m gonna be pissed.

All or nothing, it’s the only way. I don’t agree with those kinds of nights, but I put up with other nights because I felt representation.

  26. TheCosmicCharizard

Yet another hit to the Vancouver Canucks organization, they had the best specialty warm-up jerseys.

  27. MaggerStrung

The PA likely threatened to file a grievance because they didn’t want players singled out in the media. For some reason, that is hard for r/hockey to hear.

Anyways, I am sorry if anyone feels less welcomed by not seeing players wear a jersey.

  28. ikonet

The annoying vocal minority rule. We all suffer to avoid offending the snowflakes.

Edit: 30 minutes in and i got a safety warning from Reddit for this comment. knew y’all were snowflakes lol

  29. BangYourHead

    > Three teams — the Minnesota Wild, the New York Rangers and Chicago’s NHL team — cancelled their Pride Night warmups, but kept other events.

Did they forget the Blackhawks’ name?

  30. mo_downtown

I’m with Bill Burr on this one

  31. Armageddon_666

Thats partly to do with how shit the fanatics jerseys are. Who really wants a pile of rainbow string?

  32. vintage_rack_boi

I’m a vet. Good. I don’t give a shit. Play fucking hockey. Wear the home or away jersey. I’ll happily survive.

  33. Sweaty_Result853

Absolute farce. League is still living in the 90s

  34. SufficientNet9227

Wow, this is very great news.

  35. Fishpiggy

I’m all for keeping politics and social issues out of sports

  36. yusill

So no more vet support jerseys? Great work there. Columbus brings a vet with a standing ovation and one of the vet jerseys they wear every home game. Cancer awareness jersey nights and 4-5 other causes??? Way to screw that up just to avoid pride stuff which is also a great cause. Wow great work.

  37. Double_Reward230

For the best I think, keep to the subject of sports.. not religion politics etc etc

  38. mattcojo2

Everyone was saying “if you’re banning one ban them all”

    And they did.

Y’all who said that, and it was a lot, have zero right to complain. They did exactly what you wanted

  39. JacketsNest101

Good. Politics needs to stay out of sports
