  1. Wheelers a bum who bully’s the young players (Laine for example) get him the hell off my team

  2. He and 55 can no longer be in the room. It's not about cutthroat, Wheeler was Cutthroat with Laine. He needs to leave asap. Bones coming back means 55 and 26 are not.

  3. there is no beneift…stupid story all along haha Dangle as source.Anyone following hockey can tell Wheeler doesnt want be there anymore the rest is just you guys making things up for likes and subs…..pathetic

  4. You can't trade someone if you don't have a trade partner, of course they are going to try that option and even retaining salary but usually in cases like this there is more going on w/the player than they make it out to be. But even if they retain 3m of the contract other teams apparently don't see enough in him to take on 5m a year or they see other options that are better for that money or cheaper

  5. Blake is definitely a jets great. really pissed at some of our jets fans for constantly berating him and they have turned on Mark as well .and folks that's it .we are going to go into a 20 year rebuild and within two years we will be calling for coach Bones head on a stick for his immature comments at the end of the season .look at the teams that lasted as long as the jets did this year . did anyone you had a serious conversation with didn't say Boston is taking the cup this year . hard to believe that folks in Winnipeg a true hockey market doesn't understand what a balancing act it is to get a team to the playoffs .

  6. It's NOT #26 effort or abilities. But even when he was stripped of the "C," most players said " We still.consider him out captain. " So you have to remove him from the situation, so a new core can take over. It's like the difference in the Bombers from 2013 to now. 100% different team (for the better) When the coach said something at the end of the year, #26 led the charge in defiance of coaches words. Others followed #26. That is why you have to move him. And True North will handle it all with CLASS.

  7. The Jets have always been my 2nd favorite team (being from NJ, they are obviously #1) and this hurts. It also reflects 100% on the Jets management. Wheeler had anywhere he could choose to go once Boston decided to trade him and he CHOOSE the Jets. And to prove that he was all in, he signed multiple deals with the team! He. Wanted. To. Be. There.

The last few seasons the team hasn't had the proper focus. Because of Wheeler? No. But because of coaching and the front office. Now, he is the only one getting the blame. Stripped of his Captaincy. Relegated to 3rd line status. The team is in a downward spiral… and now others want out…(Hellebuyck, PLD, Shiefele) all the while I havent heard that Wheeler wants out.

Now ownership, management and coaching are the ones to point the finger at him and screaming "buy him out"! Is this for Jets fans? An American who was totally cool with coming to a great Canadian city and captaining its professional hockey team for so many years? I dont think so…

This is all just a ruse to put blame on Wheeler and completely tarnish his career… and its a shame that an NHL franchise has stooped so this low for this. I am so ashamed for my 2nd favorite NHL team….

  8. It makes a ton of sense. Here’s why, Wheeler’s NTC allows for only a 5 team trade list. The 5 teams Wheeler would accept a trade to, likely are Cup contenders and do not have 4M sitting around to take him on at 50% retained. And why would these 5 teams make a trade and give something up to pay him 4M when they can force the jets into buying him out and signing him at the Vet min salary.

Further, you say that the jets will be paying him for multiple years after the contract is over if they buy him out. That is false. They will be paying him for this year and next year – so only one year after the contract is over.

Not to mention all of the locker room issues that have been eloquently described by other commenters.

  9. Dangles definitely not a reliable source when it comes to hockey dude can't skate doesn't know much about hockey

  10. Can I just interrupt to say that the Jets' current coach is a dinosaur who should not be coaching the Jets? Can someone pass this message to the GM? I'm a die-hard Jets fan who unfortunately grew up in a small town just north of Winnipeg. I cannot overstate how important that team was to a young person's psyche. Winnipeg is a shit-hole. The Jets were the only thing anyone has to be proud of. No one in their right mind would want to play in Winnipeg, which is why the organization needs to look outside the box and realize the "tough love" approach will never work in Winnipeg. Get rid of the coach and bring someone in who can inspire a bunch of overpaid brats to stay in Winnipeg. It's a tall order, but it needs to be done. Thank you for your time.

  11. Morrissey, Lowry, Ehlers, Connor are the core of this team and will be the core of this team for whoever the new guys are that come in.

Love wheeler for all the great hockey and giving us so much to cheer for over the years – but he can't be here for this next chapter. If they don't do something and he sticks around the fans will literally turn their backs on this organization — not because they hate Wheeler so much but because it's obvious there has been something wrong with the old guard on this team for a while and they have refused to address it for so long.

  12. cuz canadian teams are even dumber then we already knew they were.. pathetic. just play his last year , or trade. the OEL buyout was terrible move. paying for nothing again .. lol

  13. i`ve meet Wheeler and besides being a NHL star playing in Munich, he had zero attitude. Zero. Absolute great guy, at least back then.
I don`t know the story with Laine but he hasn`t found to many arguments speaking for himself. Laine thought he`s a superstar, which he could be. But stars work their ass off, as Wheeler did and still does. And Laine never did put the effort in, never worked for D, carried an attitude around. I can understand older players and C being upset with that.

I see two major things with the Jets: They went all in only once, when they got Stastny in 17/18. They were really good at that time, but they never got it all together.
But they never spend like a cup champ, and they just didn`t load up drastically enough.
So as a player, do you wanna play for a team
    a) that`s a small market in the middle of Canada
    b) that has a front office unwilling to invest future assets to win now
    c) that has a ownership unwilling to spend max cap +?

For players like Trouba, NYR must have looked like a top model while you are with this country housewife….

Today the Jets finally have realized they won`t win with this core. They have 13m free cap, and besides Morrissey, Connor and Lowry, everyone is UFA the next 2 years.
They will ship Wheeler, Scheifele, Niederreiter, Dillon, Hellebuyck at one point this season, unless they suddenly look like a contender.
The question is if they should blow it up right now, or if they wanna wait till the deadline.
Scheifele at 50% cap hit has high trade value for a contender, so do Dillion, Hellebuyck, and DeMelo.
Cap with the top teams is limited, so the jets might go into the season and see how it goes.
To buy out Wheeler now would be stupid, why take cap hit for next year?

  14. With all do respect to the people living in Winnipeg, Winnipeg is litterally the arse hole of the country. Its like the Siberia of former USSR. NO ONE wants to go there. Unless you are retired and plan on going to bed each night at 8 PM. There is nothing to do. The scenery is dull. Life is miserable. When I was working for the military, when a soldier was posted to Winnipeg, it was one of the worst penalty you could receive; just after the north pole (can't remember the name of the place). And I know some players after their career (when they can tell the truth) are always speaking in those terms about Winnipeg. So maybe we should factor that in?

  15. Who tf is entertaining buying out TJ Brodie? He's one of the Leafs best defensemen

  16. I can't see a buyout coming. Winnipeg has no need of cap space. Free agents don't sign there, the only two players not trying to get out of town (Connor, Morrissey) are locked in, and they have virtually no interesting prospects they need to worry about signing down the road. This team is going to be/needs to be, horrible for a while. That's ok. They need to draft high and wisely, as they did 2010-2015 to build a contender. A market like Winnipeg, where no one wants to play, can't trade/Free Agent its way to a Cup like Vegas.

  17. Ugh. I can’t imagine living in Winnipeg let alone play on their lousy hockey team.😦

  18. Wheeler and Scheifele gotta go. Hardest part is getting anyone to take these two toxic jerks. A buyout is not a surprise when you mention either of these two.. They are the two biggest idiots in the league. Saying Trade him is easier said then done… Ain't no teams wanting Wheeler or Scheifele.. Cmon man. You are bringing in pure cancer to the room. Just ask Patrick Laine. Did they really give the Franchise alot or did they hold them back? They need to Toss em to the curb and never look back.

  19. He banged someone’s wife. Ha ha you have no idea who I m talking about

  20. A buy-out makes no sense. Put him on waivers and bury him in the AHL if you can't trade him.

  21. If he has a full no move and refuses a trade or to sign, and is trying to force a lame duck year to free agency, then yeah, buy him out.

  22. Rick Bowness is a terrible coach. Not even just bad, terrible.

  23. Wheelers days in the NHL are numbered. Fading hard, feel sorry for the next team paying this dude good cap space. Get these quitters out of town

  24. If you want to be rid of your cancer then you need to cut it out. He is a huge part of the problem. He might even be the entirety of the problem. The jets are much, much better off without him.
