With Krejci almost certain to retire and Bergeron 37, I thought a while ago this could be a destination for Hayes but I can’t figure out who/what Boston could offer. They have no top end prospects, no 1st or 2nd round picks this year and no 1st, 2nd or 3rd next year. The Bruins also have no cap space to take on a bad contract so the Flyers obviously would be retaining about 1/2 Hayes’ salary.

We can only hope and pray that Boston’s goal is to miss the playoffs next year and they need Hayes to fulfill that goal. I mean why else would anyone want him?

I read another article that said Matt Grzelcyk was available. Could be a solid pickup. One year left on a sub four million dollar contract. The Flyers would definitely still have to retain some salary.

I don’t expect much from a Hayes trade….the Flyers would most likely just be looking for a way out of the contract but if a team doesn’t want to take full salary, they’ll have to offer incentive.

Boston has just under $5 mil in cap space and only 7 forwards signed next year. They aren’t trading for Kevin Hayes. If we buy him out and goes there for like $1 mil, maybe. But they aren’t bringing that contract in even if the flyers hold 50%.

I do think Hayes to Boston makes sense, but nothing in this article was worth posting. Then again, it got a discussion going, so whatever lol.
I would be happy with a 2nd round pick with the Flyers retaining 50% of his cap hit. Also willing to take back a contract like Forbort (1 year, $3 million) if they sweeten the pot. Boston doesn’t have a ton of cap space right now and they want to re-sign Bertuzzi.
