Brodie has been a good add. Exactly as originally advertised by Calgary fandom. This is simply more Toronto wannabe insider media dreaming that they have a clue. Making it business as usual around Toronto.

Brodie has value he's been a Pilar . if Treliving was wanting to reconstruct the Defense. Which I don't believe he'd do starting with Brodie. But if he did he could get something for him in a trade. But Brodie is not going no where. But I do believe Treliving will rebuild the Defense core. As his philosophy differs from Dubas. And I think a Defense that looks like Rielly Shenn, Brodie, Hanafin, Gio/McCabe and Timmins would be one of the better Dcores i n the league.

For what it’s worth we only traded down 13 spots in the draft to rid ourselves of 2 years of Mrazek, so that really wasn’t that bad at all. Certainly better than outright trading a pick to dump salary like with Marleau

Brodie was great last year. He looked bad on a couple of plays in the playoffs that cost the Leafs a game, but I’d keep him. When you look at FLA and VGK and how tough that series was, the Leafs have to get way stronger. Start with Schenn and go from there

Buy out Murray, Schenn Acciari shouldn't be this hard to re sign them. Giordano possible not going to resign again.

It was probably Brodie's worst season as a Leaf, which is a credit to him because it's not like he was unplayable. He didn't even come to mind as a buyout candidate, so whichever 12 year olds on Twitter who are dumping on Brodie should probably stop watching hockey if they think it's a good idea.
As for the goaltending situation, I'm in the trade for Carter Hart boat. He's so underrated and still insanely young at 24, he has the workhorse DNA in him and has the ability to steal games. The Flyers are a joke and he somehow kept them relevant for a bit. When a goaltender has close to a 3.00 GAA but still has a .907 save % , it tells you about how many pucks this guy faced last year. As much as people make fun of the Leafs, they're a top 10 defensive team in the league. Both Hart and the Leafs would benefit immensely.

Seravalli on too many mushrooms on this Brodie nonsense. Better to trade out Murray (Sharks?), but depends on the sweetener needed. Re-sign Schenn, Acciari, Samsonov. Leaves about 12M, assuming Murray is gone. Sounds like a lot, but has to cover 5 more roster players, mostly in the forward group. LW-2, LW-3, LW-4, 3C, and 4C. Be great if Robertson could find his way to the roster. Not sure about Kampf, depends on his $ ask. This all assumes Nylander is staying.

Saucy Orlov Mayfield and Schenn are available. The only way I see the leafs able to trade Brodie is to aquire 3 of those 4 players. If you can't do that you ride out Brodies last year.
Honestly, why are you reporting this? Absolutely not correct at all. There is no way the Leafs are buying Brodie out.
Use the buyout on Murray, sign Sammy, Woll is a capable NHL back up. If anything, trade TJ Brodie, he’s still a solid defender. There’s Holowell, Topi, Timmins and Kral who are all NHL ready.
