  1. But here's another take: I can only assume that there's a clause somewhere, that says, "A team cannot simply GIVE AWAY an asset for NOTHING." And so, SOMETHING has to be added going the other way, no matter how pointless that might be. But honestly, this is getting to be an embarrassing JOKE for The NHL. where teams are needing to GIVE AWAY players, or even worse, give away players WHILE STILL RETAINING THAT PLAYER'S SALARY!!!, or EVEN WORSE, moving a player AT THE COST OF sending a DRAFT PICK WITH THEM!!! Is ANYONE going to suggest (ADMIT), MAYBE the system is BROKEN?!?!?

  2. Johansen always seems like he's underperformed since signing that deal, so I think this is one that can work out for both sides in his new role at a more reasonable cap hit.

  3. Man Preds were so desperate to dump Johansen they took on a guy who is a week away from UFA status.

Willing to bet Duchene is next.

  4. I'm pushing for Galchenyuk to tightrope a long career with a bunch of teams. I want him to break the teams played for record!

  5. I have a funny feeling that Nashville is getting ready to acquire Ryan Nugent Hopkins

  6. I call this a fair trade. Johansen could bounce back, but he is also 30 years old, so he could be at the declining end of his career.

By the way, this is what I think will happen with J.T. Miller and the Canucks, but maybe a year earlier, so with 3 years left in his contract, they will give him away with either 50% retention, or some assets.

  7. A win for the Avs for sure. I think Johansen comes in as a 3rd line center with the Avs still looking for a bigger trade for the 2nd line center. I'm sure this means that Compher is gone though.

  8. I think as Value, Avs win the trade. I think as contract situation goes, its a little sketchy. Even though its 4 million for the Avs, thats still alot in the bank given the sitaution they are in. It's not just a 2C position that's the problem, its depth scoring and chemistry in general. Without Landeskog again, we still have holes, and not alot of money to work with now that we have to give big boy contract to Byram. I am not a fan of this trade honestly.

  9. I don't understand how this is a good deal for Nashville whey they pay half his salary and get nothing back. Do they not know Bill Guerin's number? Even if Johansen is not as good as he once was I would rather have him over Ryan Hartman as the first line center. Surely some team would give them literally anything in return. If not then keep him and trade him at the trade deadline.

  10. This move makes sense for Nashville. Doesn't really change anything for them except saves money.

  11. As an Avs fan I love the move as we need a 2nd center. He'll bounce back playing with top talent this season!

  12. I'm trying to understand why this isn't a steal for Colorado and why Shannon isn't wearing an avalanche jersey

  13. I find it interesting that Nashville unloaded 2 of their worst 3 +/- forwards (Niederreiter and Granlund) at the trade deadline and their fortunes improved down the stretch. Now they've traded away the 3rd person of that group, and paid to do it.

  14. Wow. 50% retention. So Nashville has $4M in dead cap space for the next 2 years. Why not just go the buyout route then? Head-scratcher that they didn't get some return such as draft picks. Bad start for Trotz.

  15. Wow. Preds got fleeced, I’d say he is worth at least a 2nd?? And the retained salary! I guess lots of it is a cap dunk, be he was ok last year, and he was great 2 years ago! I guess they are betting on the youngins doing well. Does Nashville have a bigger move in mind?? Doubt it, but it’s always an option.

  16. Please stop crossing your arms! You come across as defensive and it’s distracting! Love your stuff otherwise!
