Tony is a clown but as long as the prospect isn’t anyone notable him at 2.5 million for 1 year is a lot better than anyone on the market

  2. CanesFan06

If that prospect is not named morrow or Rees, this is an incredible trade

  3. notyomamasusername

Wow, what the fuck is going on….let him stay away from us and get someone better.

I’ve been out of the country, is there no hope in keep Ghosty?

Please tell me we’re not losing Burns.

Edit: To find a silver lining, a player like TDA could be useful in the playoffs when we face really physical teams like the Panthers

Edit: more silver linings, TDA would have more time to play on the Ice with his daddy, Sebastian Aho

Flyers are trying to get rid of the guy, surprised we budged by sending a prospect their way.

  5. The_Reddit_Browser

    Bold take.

He knows our system, he’s gonna be the 6th man and was liked in the lockeroom. This is a good move.

  6. oooriole09

Huh. Not a move that anyone expected.

    Log jam at RHD too.

Kinda funny how it all worked out too. 1yr/$1m deal turned too expensive after a 51 point season with a good +/-. Trade away and get some decent picks. Trade back at 50% retention at $2.5m. Minus him being TDA, that’s some good work.

Maybe it’s gonna look something like this:

    To Car:
    Tony DeAngelo (50% retained)
Enough duct tape to close his mouth shut for the entire season

    To Flyers:
    Future Considerations (former 1st rounder)

  8. smikkelson2

Look, Tony is a douchebag but he behaved for the most part under Rod, he’s going to help our power play, and him and Chatfield will be a real scrappy third pair

Assuming the prospect isn’t anyone of note (which they shouldn’t be), the worst part of this is going to be Boston fans thinking they can call us racist in the playoffs again lol

  9. H_Man247

As a Ghost replacement, he could be quite serviceable. He’s succeeded here before, I’m open to giving him another shot

  10. TheHalfChubPrince

Oh fuck this. Here we go again.

  11. Nikishin for TDA, who says no

Edit: /s … thoight that was obvious

  12. MrBl0bfish04

Knowing that they’ll retain 50% definitely makes me feel better. Also, after thinking about it more, I’m more on board with it. I was just a lil shocked at first. As everyone else said, just hope it’s not a prominent prospect

  13. Agreeable-Ad-8087

Gosh here come all the downvotes. Tony can help us on the second power play love the move.

  14. MrHockey95

I absolutely love this. He was a freaking beast for us.

  15. recneps1992

Don’t mind this at all. He brings back some toughness we’ve needed and is great on the powerplay. This will work out in our favor.

  16. steve_r_b

Lol I can only think of Aho torching him 😂

  17. ppParadoxx

Please god no I can’t go through this again

  18. alottagames

Shame we couldn’t lock up Ghostbear. Really liked his play from the moment he joined the team. This deal at $2.5 mil. is reasonable and potentially opens up some $$$ for forwards. I can see locking down the D corps as soon as possible and then figuring out how to handle forwards for both this year and next because I gotta assume anything that’s done in this year will be done with an eye towards 2024 since we have several good UFAs coming up. Perhaps we even sign someone early like Aho…

Either way…more money for the offense is absolutely necessary. I’m not a huge TDA fan, but he was a solid contributor for us for the season we had him. PHI was never going to be a good fit because they expected 1st defensive pairing skill from a guy that’s a serviceable 3rd liner with a solid offensive PP quarterbacking skillset.

  19. Caniac1017

To those who are so against this deal because of his “attitude”, do you care to share what issues did he create last season with the Canes and this past year in Philly?

  20. Chatfield played with Ghost as a d partner who isn’t any better in his own end than TDA so let’s hope he can do it also on his off side. With 50% retained, this is pretty solid.

  21. CardboardJoJo

I was a big supporter of Tony. He played well and brought some fire. He fell apart near the end and sucked in the playoffs iirc BUT if he can stay like he was most of our regular season that’s a W

  22. Prefer the don’t, the reunion is never the same.
