Like you, every Blues fan has been wondering since day one why DA wouldn't budge on a NMC for Petro and then handed out NTCs like candy to every D available while also giving them top dollar and term.
Vegas has an interesting goaltender situation, but, it looks like Hill and Thompson will be the tandem there. Jon Quick will end up elsewhere, probably as a backup. I was totally wrong about the Blues-Flyers trade because I didn't think it was Krug they were trying to trade, thought it would be Parayko.
I can understand why Krug wouldn't want to leave a team like St Louis to a Philadelphia team that's getting torn down. Ken Holland was giving out bad contract with NTC in the years before leaving Detroit. St Louis gave a few too many out as well.

DO NOT bring Matt Murray back to Pittsburgh. Period. Not even if Toronto eats some salary. Whatever mojo he had was gone before he even left Pittsburgh. His puck handling was never the greatest, he was new and unknown in the beginning, and once shooters got the book on him, he's never been the same. I'd rather roll with Jarry, and I don't even want him back.

No NHL GM is going to take on the Matt Murray contract without a substantial sweetener and/or significant salary retention. Both of those undesirable options make a simple buyout of Murray's contract all the more likely.

Doug Armstrong has been a great GM for St. Louis. He brought us a cup finally. He made some great trades and some that didnt pan out but they looked great on paper. But when all is said and done, one thing people will look back on and scratch their head about is him giving NTC out like they're participation trophies. It is coming back to bite him in the butt. Hes still a great GM. But I hope he is really learning from those mistakes right now because the Philly/STL trade would be a great first step in the direction that The Blues need to get back to contention.
Excuse me if I’m wrong, how does PLD justify asking that high of AAV? I haven’t seen anything in Winnipeg to suggest he’s worth that much. We all seen the video of him giving zero effort and with no incentive if he does get that long term extension…. Just seems risky to me. He’s never scored over 30 goals and has never reached the point per game mark🤷♂️
