Expanding more of what they discussed:
– Ian Cole is 34, LHD. Former Penguin. Had some off-the ice issues with allegations against him.
– Teddy Blueger is 28, left-handed C. Just won the cup with Vegas, traded from Pittsburgh at the deadline. Rutherford signed him 3 times since he was a rookie.
– Dhali thinks it’s too quiet on Bear, Burroughs, Juulsen. He’s not sure if this means they’re letting all 3 walk.
– Schenn keeps talking with Toronto, Dhali thinks he’s asking for more than $2M now.
– And Canucks don’t seem interested in re-signing Delia, will probably be active in FA for a backup goaltender.
Cole would be a decent add at under 2M
Great news on all fronts. Cheaper, effective guys to slot into our numerous roster holes. No need to go big game hunting in a shitty UFA year.

Soucy will also hopefully be their main target to play with Hronek.
Canucks should look to get someone better for 3C though imo.

Aging free agents give me the heebeejeebees. I already know if we sign one its going to be like 2.5m x 2 for Ian Cole.
Do contract offers expire? For example if Burroughs wants to see if he can get more elsewhere after July 1st can he do that? Or does that terminate his contract offer from the Canucks.
By my count this is the 3rd time we’ve kicked the tires on Lucic and had it fallen through. I surely hope it was because we didn’t see the value there, but I’m not confident. There is an angel watching over us.

I’d prefer if we trade for a defenseman from the Bruins and pick up an asset along the way.

I love Blueger, I watched a lot of pens hockey from the Cup run until a year or 2 ago and he is awesome, great 3rd liner. If we can get him under $2 mil I’d be happy

Ian Cole is an interesting name, but it has to be at the right price. He’s more-or-less a 3rd pairing guy at evens who kills penalties.
34 years old, it would need to be a team friendly contract.

I was under the impression the Canucks extended Burroughs an offer? Obviously he’s got that dawg in him but I have a hard time believing he’ll get more than league min anywhere in the league, why not just take the deal?
