As they should, outside of Bedard he’s the one that has the potential to be the face of the franchise.
Oh god please
Please god please
God please god please
Please
Anyone else worried about his <alleged> horrible personality? Seems like something we should avoid but IDK
I kinda like the idea of multiple first rounders this year, and there’s even a slight chance Michkov falls to us at seven. I was thinking we take him if he falls to us, but otherwise we enjoy our wealth of picks. Second or third pick is gonna be insanely costly to get and I’m not sure if it’s worth giving up a ton for a guy who might get kept in Russia anyway. But I also see why it makes some sense to go for it
All these reporters are just making stuff up at this point. I’ll believe it when I see the NHL announce the trade. Until then, all smoke, but no fire (yet).
If only we had just properly tanked in the first place we could be higher in the draft to begin with and not needing to move heaven and earth to move up
Habs are your most likely trading partner here.
5OA for 7th and 22th.
He’s a great player but….. He will not be available for three years. Don’t take him!!!
Thats ballsy. I don’t see it happening
How often do you see teams trade back in the top 10? I feel like it doesn’t happen as much as in other sports.
There are rumors Michkov will be available at 7, but I’d rather move up if possible.
The drop off from Bedard to Michkov is not that steep. The only reason he isn’t consensus #2 is because of those 3 years he’s committed to the KHL.
I’m 100% okay giving up 22 to move up if that’s what they need to do to secure Michkov. Even combined, the players we get at 7 and 22 are not going to be more valuable than Michkov. He’s going to make everyone who passes him question what in the fuck they were thinking once he’s in the NHL.
Would be an enormous mistake as much as I’d like michkov. Deepest draft in years…. so we consolidate all our assets into picks, and consolidate those into one pick? Wtf
There is usually a bunch of wild stuff that comes out around draft time grain of salt with everything. But anything is possible. You’d think they’d want to pick high especially this year but trust in Danny I guess
1. CHI takes Bedard
2. ANA takes Fantilli
3. CBJ takes Carlsson
4. SJS takes Smith
5. MTL takes ????
6. ARI takes whoever can make them competitive now so they can stay in Arizona.
Possible we don’t need to move up, entirely dependent on how Montreal feels about Mich.
Could also be smoke screen by Flyers to entice someone behind them to trade up to 7 in the event Michkov is available
With news of a Hayes, Sanheim, and TDA trade that were all accurate and happened without issue, surely this will be no different.
You don’t say.
[Since the free agent class is so thin, expect some heavy trade activity this week. Kevin Hayes, Pierre Luc-Dubois deals imminent. Flyers & Jets looking to do more too..
**However several teams trying to trade up in the first round are having trouble. Nobody wants to budge.**](https://twitter.com/emilymkaplan/status/1673344647714816002?s=46&t=S_LiHKGoXi91Lmgu-MxoZA)
Not sure trading up is going to be that easy.
If this is true, then the Laughton story has to be complete BS
Kind of thought this was the plan from the jump tbh
I think it would be really silly for us to not take him, but also really silly for any team after 4 not to take him.
Even if you’re arizona. Take him and let him show off in the KHL. Trade him if he wont sign with you.
Look at the history of moving up in drafts vs. moving down. Sure, maybe it turns out to be a great move, the key word being “maybe.” What do the odds say?
If Briere can get three first round picks, he should draft three first-rounders.
If they really believe in Michkov, then they should absolutely try to trade up. I doubt they will be able to, though. Regardless, they should have either Michkov, Benson, or Leonard available at #7.
