Was just about to post this and it wouldn’t let me! I hope it’s true.

From the Montreal Canadians? This feels like an AI article or something…

If it’s two firsts and Zadina that’s too much.

Two firsts and Zadina? Yeah I’ll pass.

    I don’t believe it for a second

“Either one of Detroit’s 2nd round picks…” in addition to everything that’s been said here, this article is butt

    >Our source indicated that the Red Wings would send Filip Zadina, the No. 17 overall pick, and either one of Detroit’s second-round picks this year or Boston’s first-rounder next year to the Senators in exchange for DeBrincat.

Trading away the top 5 defensive forward in the league plus picks for DeBrincat? Are they mad?

That’s a bigger haul for Ottawa than what Calgary got for Tkachuk!

What I don’t like is how they say either one of this years 2nd round picks or Boston’s first round pick next year.

That’s a huge difference in value IMO. I can see Boston imploding soon.

This like Parise-Suter all over again lol

Well it’s on the internet. So it has to be true!

I’m not saying the author made up this rumor, but it would be very easy for them to.

-Cat to Detroit is the most likely destination, so good bet to make your rumor regarding that.

-The line « deal contingent on certain prospect being there at 17 » is pretty key. If there was no actual deal and Wings pick at 17, author can just be like « Sens prospect was picked before 17 »

-If Wings did get him but for a different return, nobody would care.

-Really only way this could backfire on the author is if Cat is traded to someone else for a much weaker return.

Zardina, a first, and a second or possibly another first… Man I don’t know. He’s a player that doesn’t want to be under contract with the Sens anymore. Was hoping we could get a better deal than that.

think the article is BS but man, would be nice to bring in a 2 time 40 goal scorer who is only 25- oh and from here. Him + some internal improvements + prospects coming up maybe a FA signing or two and this team should be an actual playoff contender next year.

Stop posting articles from this garbage site. They are notoriously wrong and it’s clickbait at best

Not falling for it but assuming Oliver Bonk will be picked at #17 if this true

This « handshake deal » sounds an awful lot like speculation on a recent Winged Wheel Podcast talking about how the general framework of a trade will be worked out in advance, and just be pending should a player the team looking to make the trade be available at the draft spot that’s open, for example « Zadina, 17 and a 2nd for Debrincat » and Ottawa saying « yeah that’d be enough, if any of these players are available at that spot, we’d be interested ».

Sounds a lot less like an actual handshake deal and more turning one person’s speculation into rumor

Yeahhh I’m starting to think this is 100% BS. Same outlet just put out an article that “Dumba is predicted to sign with Detroit”. Their source being, “Michael DeRosa of The Hockey Writers said the wings should target him” lmfao

  19. RoboMojoJojo

I think he ends up in Detroit but the article seems like total BS. Why would Yzerman (or any gm) agree to a trade based on a specifc player being available for the other team to pick at 17? While I think ADB is fair value for the pick, the other assets seem excessive and dont take into account that the Senators have next to no leverage in the situation. There seems to be a solid trade market for young forwards at the moment (i.e. Konecny, Keller, Nylander, Schmaltz). It makes no sense to take the 17th pick off the trade market right as it peaks and give Ottawa the option to back out of the trade at the last possible moment.

Supposedly I seen Zadina is part of the trade
