I don’t know that I want Karlsson unless he’s heavily retained, but a friend of mine is a tremendously irritating Sens fan and I know it would make him miserable to see Karlsson in a Leafs jersey, so I kinda want to see it.

Loll, yeah right. Never going to happen.

Unless he’s gonna be retained at 50%, I wouldn’t even consider that.

Oh please!! Please make this happen!

    Willy for Erik straight up

    One Swede for another?

Who’s going to take on the career -103 player for $11.5 million?

I mean, Rielly isn’t amazing defensively but still has a lot of value. We know the Sharks would be willing to retain only about $2M.

As a thought experiment, would you send Rielly and Murray to SJ for Karlsson? You’d get $2M more cap this year, can use towards Schenn. In future years you’d have ~$2M less than otherwise but cap will go up.

    Brodie-Karlsson

    McCabe-Liljegren

    Giordano-Schenn

It’s definitely not a Tre type of blue line. I’d rather them go more the Vegas route and go big and stout defensively, leave the offense to the forwards.

Can’t remember where I heard it but it was said about Treliving that he’s always in on every player. Doesn’t mean he’s going to make a move but he does his due diligence on everyone available. This could have been as little as a phone call to see what San Jose is considering and it ended there.

Erik Karlsson would solve our power play woes from the back end and make us even more effective on both sides of the ice because we can create stronger offensive match-ups. I think the only way this would work is if Murray + assets were to go the other direction given the cap constraints AND Karlsson is double retained.

I don’t think Rielly would waive and I wonder if Brodie has San Jose on his NTC. In addition, because Muzzin is LTIRetired, it’s possible San Jose could take on more cap than indicated if we make it very sweet for them.

Niemala, Robertson (?), 1st, Murray, Muzzin, etc?

They literally throw our name in their for clicks.

Personally, I would rather see money go to signings/trades like Perry, Lucic, Toffoli (or players of that ilk)

It’s not a coincidence that Vegas made it all the way with mostly Canadian passion, mental toughness and grit. ( These are unteachable traits). If you have a roster where your best players play scared and won’t go into the difficult spots, you are doomed in the NHL playoffs.

Yea, let’s get him to trigger Sens fans lol

  15. decarvalho7

If he’s retained and I guess Nylander going the other way?

Our transition offense was one of our biggest weaknesses last season. He would be like a one man fix for that issue lol no idea how that could possibly work money wise though.
