Yzerman doesn’t like to overpay. It’s not that surprising. But he also doesn’t talk so he could surprise us out of nowhere.

I’d rather not have him than to overpay to acquire him and then have to pay him a monster contract to keep him. OTT has little leverage and I think they’re overplaying their hand. Probably upset because they burned a lot to acquire him and then are about to lose him.

At this point I don’t know what to believe, so I won’t be disappointed no matter how this situation ends. That’s probably for the best.

We know it’s gonna hurt to trade for him but you can’t get good pieces for free. Take a chance for once.

He won’t say anything even if it is close. You don’t show your hand until you have everything ready so for all we know he could want to wait til post draft and then strike

Dallas is talking to Ottawa about Debrincat, but they’d have to move money around to make it work.

Nothing leaks from Yzermanland. This is probably Ottawa leaking to try and push Detroit to sweeten the pot.

    Let Stevie cook

Hmm I’m not convinced this is accurate (also can’t see it cuz it’s the Athletic)

Lebrun is also a terrible insider

This wait is both infuriating and why it’s good Stevie is negotiating and not me.

Ottawa fan here. Dorion announced today that it doesn’t look like Ottawa will have a pick in the first round of the draft this year and that after talking to his team they feel it’s a good year not to. General consensus was that if Debrincat was traded it would be before the draft and would include a first rounder.

So based on that, I’d say a deal in the short term doesn’t sound promising.

We need goal scoring, but we don’t need it bad enough to overpay for it when we’re still rebuilding.

Good. Do it on our terms only. No need to get desperate.

Just an update from Ottawa GM interview today, plus a few previously released statements.

Hasn’t been offered a first rounder for ADB.

ADB has not requested a trade, but at this moment in time, does not want to sign a long term deal.

ADB would like ownership situation resolved before making decision (potential owner has been chosen, needs approval from board plus has to sell ownership stake in Canadians, plus paperwork).

ADB is not against playing in Ottawa this year to see if view on long term will change.

I really don’t want to get blue balled this offseason.
