What if Quickie when BACK to the kings on a cheap deal for 1-2 year to Retire there
That’s a lot of depth and money given up by LA for a 60-70 point centre who’s probably going to be behind Kopitar and potentially Byfeild

Jets fleeced the Kings. 8.5 million for a 60 point guy, that alone is an overpay for Dubois.
But two 2nd liners, a young prospect and a 2nd rounder. Plus Kupari and Vilardi are RFAs so Jets keep their rights.

To early to say who 'wins' this trade. It depends on a few things. Gabe needs to sign and stay healthy for the jets to see anything in return. Iafflo and Kupari are wild cards, Iafflo is a 3rd line player and finally had a decent year for the Kings, Kupari needs more ice time in order to shine.
On the Kings side, PLD needs to play and not be crying.

As a Kings fan, I'm probably definitely in the minority here but I don't think the deal itself is that crazy. On the surface level, the assets being exchanged here probably favor the Jets and I think throwing in a 2nd rd pick was excessive but given the fact that the Kings have been trying to offload Iafallos's contract, Vilardi's injury history and Kupari not making that leap last year I don't think is all that much of a fleece. The real question mark with this deal in my opinion is the contract PLD is signing. Both the term and AAV could make this ugly if PLD doesn't take those next steps but a couple years playing behind Kopi I think will help in his development.
As far as filling out the rest of the roster for the Kings, we've got more prospects waiting to be called up than we know what to do with so I think part of getting rid of Iafallo, Kupari and Durzi was also to make way for some of these other guys to finally get there shot.

Jets fans will love Vilardi all he needs to do is stay healthy, and he'll be on his way to being a phenomenal player he has some of the best hands in the league

Addition by subtraction. Getting rid of a selfish, chronic malcontent such as PLD immediately improves the Winnepeg Jets' prospects going forward. The three players and 2nd round draft pick are a bonus.

I see what the Kings did, but they gave up too much. Dubois a 2nd line centre at best and not only did they get fleeced but they overpaid him as well. Whining about all the teams he wants to leave, and Vilardi/Iafallo will just want to prove themselves even more outside of LA.
Buffalo should trade Jost & a 5th rd pick for Iafalo.

This is a move for the future for LA. Right now the situation seems tight but long term it’s going to work out for LA especially if the cap goes up yrs down the line. They have him for his very prime so it’s not too bad. Ima miss Gabe though. WPG is going to love him.
