Not sure how the Leafs could want to continue on their path when they see teams stacking up players for long deals and fair money. Are they saying they have to draft, coddle and pay star players because they know they can't build a team by counting on players to want to sign and play there otherwise?

Disagree about the Toffoli trade, I think it’s a better trade than it seems on the surface. Though there’s no denying there are issues in Calgary, but really can’t expect Conroy to instantly fix all the issues his predecessor created. This is a small step forward, despite the initial optics.

I think Dubois represented a huge trap for the Canadiens, and as a Habs fan I'm pretty happy that their needs and Winnipeg's didn't match up very well here, making the deal impossible. As far as Newhook is concerned, I have an open mind. As a general principle, getting guys who have already made it through their post-draft year shape up seems to be part of the general approach for Montreal, and I'm here for it.

Shrango is underrated, but thats because decent middle 6 guys are underrated. Hes a good a middle 6 but very inconsistent. Devils tried to plug him everywhere when it wasnt working on Jacks LW. Hes a good middle 6 for 50 games, but vanishes for the other 30.
