Josh Bailey has been an Islander since I was 9 years old.
This is a sad day.

I’m devastated he won’t play his entire career as an Islander and get his jersey in the rafters. He’s in the pantheon of my personal favorites, alongside the likes of Adrian Aucoin, Kenny Jonsson, and Frans Nielsen.
Kick ass in Chicago.

My little brother has CP and went to a school for the physically disabled, the Islanders would visit I believe yearly and the only player I remember being there every time was Bailey. I know he dropped off big time but I’m still sad seeing him go. I hope he gets an incredible reaction when the Hawks play at UBS

1057 games played (3rd all-time among Islanders)
580 points (7th all-time)
50 playoff points (most of any Islander post-dynasty)

My hope is he plays his contract out in Chicago, mentors Bedard, and then comes to sign a one-day contract and retires on the Island as part of the player development team.

You will be missed. The haters in this fan base are the worst of the worst and he never deserved the amount of vitriol tossed at him during his 1000+ game career here.

I’ve been memeing moving him for like 3 months and now I’m actually sad

Josh is a solid human being who has received more crap from a certain segment of the Islander fanbase than anyone deserves. Many of them are bitching about the deal, they just can’t let it go. In a perverse way, I hope Josh nets a couple in his first game against the Islanders.

Thank you Bailey for everything you did for this franchise. You proved all the doubters wrong, and you were nothing but class during your tenure as an Islander.

He got shit on so hard by a big portion of the fanbase for so long, but when you look at things at the end, he was a very solid Islander. Stayed with us through many ups and downs, was a very solid playoff performer (very overlooked by those fans who shit on him), and he had a few really solid seasons with us including the obvious all star season.
He will be missed but it was definitely the right time to move on

looks like the Hawks are already planning to buy him out
