Problem with that is nurse is a time eater defenseman so now you put on the PP all the time his mins go up. they (the oilers)are playing someone who does not have much on ice time as much as nurse. which is why Bouchard is on the PP.

I'd rather see Broberg and pieces going there way to get Pesce. Utilize Bouch's 2 yr 3-3.5 deal to win a cup. Then either pay him or trade him

The only d-man you need to upgrade on is Ceci. Honestly, I would be curious if the Oilers could trade Ceci for Myers from Vancouver with salary retained by Vancouver. I think Myers is still a good D-man if paired with Nurse, you'd have to add a sweetener for sure for the retention, but that would be a decent upgrade on Ceci IMO.
I assumed it would be an elaborate plan to push Nurse down the stairs and hope he broke both his legs.

Interesting discussion. However, the idea of intentionally limiting a player's output in order to keep his future dollar value down, just sounds dumb. It reminds me of when people say not to take a raise because you'll just pay more in tax. Dumb.
DUDES!!!! Trade Phenurse! Other teams still think he is a good D yet most Oilers fans know he is always on the wrong side of the puck. Nurse is a liability and will cost the Oilers more then 9M. they wont win with Nurse. Bouch has more to offer then Nurse all day long.

Ah yes. Very "clever". The people who come up with these "clever" takes are also the people who were probably loving the Jack Campbell signing. Awful idea, but only the Oilers would think bringing in a single defenceman would solve their issues. This team can't figure out how to score without Connor & Leon. Get a centre who can actually win 52%+ face offs who shoot right to play on the second line with RNH.
This is a good conversation….I’m not a big Bouchard fan and we know he is not good defensively so I would be all in on a trade for Pesci!…I think broberg would be a really good alternative for the power play…I love the way he skates and would love to see what he could do on the pp!
I've never seen Broberg look even close to ready. A Healthy Ceci is a far far better player then he. "One Move" is not going to fix this D.
I think we could 100% justify a move like that. I understand people getting all hung up on it but the big picture is – we need to win a fucking cup. Nobody should be off limits to reach that end beyond McDrai. Plain and motherfucking simple. Disagree all anyone wants but winning is what we need to do and if that means trading Bouch, Broberg, Holloway… whoever or whatever it takes to win, must be done.
TRADE NURSE! Look at his track record for Goals Against. He’s the single most defensemen who left his post constantly, leaving his side of the net wide open. I’m not even exaggerating on how many times they scored because of that man’s own mistakes. How the hell he earned half of what they paid him this year is beyond me, and that’s probably why they won’t trade him, because they know he sucks as the worst defender in the NHL. However all of our problems would disappear trading Nurse and replacing him with a solid defender.
