Graves and Kerfoot would be cool

  2. Dern44

Gostisbehere is 30? God damn lol

  3. Markiv19

I have free agency trauma, I feel like everyone will cost 4×4.

But based on this Suter looks great

  4. HDXHayes

Unless I’m reading it wrong(which wouldn’t surprise me) Scott Mayfield looks like the most intriguing d. Maybe a combo of mayfield-soucy-compher/suter?

  5. Young2k04

I like Dumoulin as a LHD target

  6. Morty777

Scott Mayfield looks a little too much like myers for my liking

We can’t find any free agents named pettersons? This management is trash.

Suter looks intriguing but his last contract was 3.25m Aav on a 2 year deal. I’m assuming he wanted a raise, which is why Stevie is letting him walk… Would he make a good 3C for 3.5M+ on a 3-4 year deal, or would looking somewhere else be better?

I’m up for a Pius Suter on the cheap 🙂

everyone else is a no (except *maybe* Soucy if he doesn’t get way overpriced – I feel « stop taking dumb penalties » is a relatively simple fix that would boost his WAR a ton)

Thanks for the compilation. Most of these guys I like the idea of them on the Canucks but at the right money and term. Don’t know what the team’s preference is right now but, imo, if they can keep any free agent signings to a 2-3 year term and less than $3-4M AAV I’d be a happy camper. Idea being look for the bargains now to setup the team with options in a few years when ideally we’re contending for a Cup *if the re-tool works*.

Orlov will likely be given a big boy contract since he can score and play big minutes.

I’ve read that Graves wants to stay in the U.S. Even if he didn’t I don’t like our chances due to big term & AAV. Especially after the Vegas Cup win these big dmen that are actually legit top 4 guys are probably going to get paaaid.

Soucy could be a decent acquisition at the right price/term but I really hope management doesn’t assume they can promote him to being a top 4 guy and it’ll just work out.

Mayfield is very appealing but I worry about the term & AAV. Same feelings as Graves.

Dumoulin might be interesting on a 1 year deal, I wouldn’t want more than that due to him having a history of concussions.

I don’t think Ghost fits our needs. Not a PK guy, not a shutdown D type. And probably gets paid more than you think due to teams needing a point producer that can run a PP.

Compher, I really like his game but I think he’s gonna have multiple bidders for him and his term/AAV will be way too rich for us. Also he’s unfortunately not a PK guy.

Rodrigues, I kinda view him as a worse, cheaper version of Compher. If the term/AAV lines up then maybe? But again issue with him is he doesn’t PK.

If the Canucks didn’t have a zillion wingers I’d like Kerfoot to be signed due to his defensive and PK prowess. Unfortunately we don’t have room for him as it stands now.

I really like Suter as a C option due to the defensive and PK abilities. Only worries are his size & career FO% avg. But my guess is he might be the most affordable C option out there since he doesn’t wow people with his pts.

Good rentals here to load off to desperate playoff contenders…

Is what a perfect world would look like, but we’re the canucks…

  12. NerdPunch

Pius Suter is a player I would be willing to offer a bit of term to. He scratches an itch for this team, and I think he could be a bit of an underrated value-bet. Anything under $3M would be a win.

  13. Physics_Puzzleheaded

    Don’t want any of them.

  14. Shironye

Imagine Soucy, Mayfield, and Compher or Rodrigues… I can dream. Instead, well, get 4×4 Ian Cole.

  15. YouCanFucough

Soucy feels like a lock and we should brace for impact. We’ll be one of the only teams willing to give him top 4 minutes and I think he’d appreciate a 2 or 3 year prove-it deal, so he can try for a legit top 4 role and salary when he’s 30. He fills a need if he can step up to the plate, and he’s within our budget.

Kerfoot gets a lot of hate in Toronto but I think he’d be perfectly fine here, since we don’t really need him to play a top line left winger role like they found themselves doing.

I’ve got no clue what to expect honestly but I’m excited

  16. Holyshitmuffin

I’m up for the canucks signing zadorov even tho he’s not in this post

  17. Derknas4

Saw J.T. compher and thought “funny smile” then fucking swiped right and saw Evan Rodrigues 😂😂

  18. Can someone explain WAR% for me? I understand WAR but can’t find anything explaining WAR%.

At first I thought it was just WAR converted from wins over an 82 game schedule to a fraction, but that would give MUCH lower numbers than what I see here.

  19. Blenchers

I was gonna post Caleb Jones’ card here, he actually put up really solid numbers on one of the worst teams in the cap era

Sounds like the Hawks are gonna let him walk

Good secondary LD option I think, and way cheaper, decent size

  20. skorvat

Best RHD is Mayfield, best C is Kerfoot.

You have to account for their quality of competition and their teammates. Ideally you want to pick the players who have the best percentiles with the highest QoC % (time played against the best competition) and the lowest teammates % (the higher the percentage = the more you play with better linemates = the more your linemates may impact your stats). In this case, the free agent pool is thin as hell. But for a 3C shutdown centre who can play PK, Kerfoot is the guy. Mayfield represents better defensive ability against solid competition, but still may not be able to keep up with top pairing minutes next to Hughes.

I’m not in favour of signing anyone in this list besides Kerfoot. Top priority is a shutdown 3C and he may be willing to take a little less, and the FA defenceman crop is weak and will get overpaid by someone.

  21. LobsteRex

Rodrigues or Suter are both underrated and would fit well as our 3C I think.

Guys like Soucy or Cole arent great but I do feel like as a pairing with Hronek they could provide some value as defensive stalwarts, if had for a reasonable price for term. An underrated need for us are players who can drive the offense better though, so thats the concern if we sign defensive specialists.

I guess the defenseman who drive both offensive and defensive play well on the backend usually cost north of 5 million dollars per year though. It might be unpopular but thats why Id be happy with signing Ian Cole, only if it were a year or maybe two years at max. Cole drives good defensive play.

  22. PetterssonsNeck

Can you imagine a bear / ghost bear pairing 😂

  23. Blink_Dragstar

Here’s a thought, don’t sign any of these guys.

  24. Available-Limit5305

Don’t worry, I’ll bring my piggy bank just in case! 😂🐷
