I kind of get it, but don’t really agree with it…

  2. Please_obtain_taco

GMBT making some fuckin moves holy shit

  3. _Dirty_Commie_

    WHAT

You’re telling me there isn’t a team out there that would’ve taken him in a trade, even if we retain salary?

  4. Bkoster85

I really thought they were gonna try and get DeBrincat and go for it… But now what’s the point in keeping Saros and Josi? might as well go full on tank

  5. MattyIce2900

we have like 3 vets now lol

Knew this or a trade was coming for him. Trotz has no room for cancers or head cases. I can’t say this with 100 percent certainty, but I’m willing to bet Trotz is sending messages through George Plaster. Plaster called the last two moves a month ago.

What the hell? Is Twitter not linking to tweets without being signed in now?

  8. Alteredecho07

There have been many rumors and reports that he was a problem for the locker room.

I didn’t take any of that too seriously, but if viewing this move through that lense, this makes more sense. I’m shocked no team wanted him with retention

Pretty clear the core of the team was rotten. Complacency had reigned supreme since the SCF appearance. Long term deals were given to those that once they received them started if not mailing it in, then becoming complacent once they had received their big contract. Trotz cleaning up Poile’s mess and putting the rest of the team on notice.

Well, that’s one way to have a top 5 pick next year. The tank is coming, gang

I’m saddened but I get it. Man, this is such an exciting new era for us. Wish we could’ve had 40-goal Duchene for more than a year…

  12. RustyNipples35

Barry doesn’t give a fuck about nothing dude just going full nuclear

  13. Hopefully a plan becomes more evident soon. I don’t see this as a sign they’re heading into full rebuild mode. How can you tank with Saros in net? Unless he’s traded, this team is still going to be middle of the pack.

  14. Rinne4Vezina

Me, at the therapist tomorrow: We are gathered here today to say goodbye to the Nashville Predators as I knew them.

  15. KaleidoscopeOk1346

I don’t think this triggers the tanking conversation, he didn’t step up when needed last year and this makes me feel better about us keeping our kids together. I mean, the ads proved they could field us a team!

  16. Tnenforcer

Trotz going scorched earth and I’m here for it.

  17. Electricflows

So they have to pay him about 20 million in a buyout instead of 24 million. Could not find another team to take him at 4 million before the no movement clause kicked in?

  18. DBTornado

I’m glad GMBT isn’t going to half ass the rebuild. If we’re going to shake things up, it’s best to shake them all up at once.

Appreciate Duchene for his short time here, but if we’re ever going to win the Cup things like this are necessary.

  19. ostricherox68

Yak and sis are now 2 of our 3 highest paid forwards

    I find this incredibly funny

  20. ON_A_POWERPLAY

Barry didn’t get his trade up so he took off his belt and went into the locker room to take it out on Duchy lmao. I love these moves man, I’m so excited for next season. The goal isn’t wining anymore and that’s pretty obvious.

  21. Sherpav

Honestly, I’m here for it. Trotz is cleaning house and fixing up a lot of the mess we’ve had over the last few years. Fresh start

  22. WhoDeyFourWay

Barry is rocking the boat holy shit.

I love Duchene. Will miss him. Will always remember him as the king of *almost* making a cool solo play happen with his stick handling and skating and then losing the puck at the last second.

  23. gabbys_burgersnthigh

Looking back, I think the duchene signing will be seen as the start of Poile’s downfall. The Duchene trade made no sense from the start from a roster building perspective. We had Joey, Turris, Bonino and sissons and had very good success with them. The signing pushed Turris to wing / 3C and forced Lavi to make adjustments he didn’t want to make.

The downfall continued when Duchene couldn’t meet expectations as a center and was ultimately pushed to wing. From the start it was a disaster. Sucks it had to end like this but it was time to pull the trigger and start what will be a painful rebuild.

  24. Infraction_

Sorry this ain’t it. Duchene hasn’t been without frustration but I don’t think buying out is the move. I don’t think his performance was that bad, and I felt he stepped up to help the kids before getting injured. I would have liked to see him get a chance under a coach that isn’t offensively inept, and more importantly avoid another dead cap hit for SIX years. This includes a 5.5M cap hit the season after this coming one and a 6.5M the year after. That’s when the kids will need to start being paid.

  25. Clovis_Winslow

I really like Duche but I completely see Barry’s logic here. Definitely going to trust the process, and if we suck badly for a few years, I’ll keep right on going to games being obnoxiously loyal. It was fun for our first 10 years and it’ll be fun again.

  26. He and Jo didn’t pull their weight for what they were paid. Now they get to take that BS somewhere else! It’s about time.

  27. bomberfan2

Trotz you’ve lost me. He had great chemistry with Glass and it’s a cap loss in the last 3 years. Don’t understand it unless it’s for tanking but even then Saros isn’t getting traded and you can’t tank with Saros making you a significantly better team

  28. All_the_dinohorses

Does this mean he gets sent off in an Uber?
