  1. Calling it now – Panthers are gonna sign Shayne Gostisbehere. The guy's contract is up, the Panthers need more defensive depth, and he's from the area where the Panthers play! @johnny hawkey

  2. I was of the same thought when the Toffoli trade happened. I was pretty pissed. But looking at what happened around the NHL, aging wingers didnt have ANY value. What Conroy got was solid compared to other teams literally giving guys like toffoli for free

  3. I have some Rejean Houle vibe about Conroy: nicest man in the world and you just want the best for him but in a job he does not have the tools to do properly

  4. Such a bad take about toffoli he had his best year by far he's significantly worse then he showed this year

  5. Conroy signed the Russian for 2 years AND walks him to UFA. SO Basically a 2 year rental and a 3rd rounder for the flames. That’s a fleecing on both fronts

  6. yeee wonder why he would turn down a contrract at a franschise in the shitter no one wants to play there so why should he want to. maybe he want to go somewhere with an actual chance at the cup

  7. Would have been better to hold on to Toffoli and get better value at the trade deadline. Pending UFA usually put up big numbers in their walk years. Flames would have gotten more than what they got from NJ

  8. The oilers broke the flames and gave them PTSD during the BOA playoffs. Ever since then, Markstrom forgot how to play goal and the rest of the players want out because of the schlacking the Oilers and one legged Draisaitl gave them.

  9. All these pics of cheering fans in Flames jerseys. Didn't know they ever had anything to cheer about. looool

  10. Markstrom $6 MILLION until he is 38 years old. $7 MILLION for Kadri until he is 39 years old, $10 MILLION a year for Huberdeau until God knows when….and now $72 MILLION offered to Lindholm?
Is that really the best approach with a new C.B.A coming in 2025 and no real chance for a Cup in the mean time?

  11. Why do people have this idea that GMs around the league will bombard Calgary with 1st round picks for 1 remaining season of a 31 yo forward who OPENLY said h wont resign?
Middle 6 RFA forward and a 3rd round pick? they resigned Yegor to 2 years, he can increase his value because he probably gets better stats than in NJD (cuz everyone does), and you get an extra pick in a deep draft. next year NJD will have nothing (maybe some good will with Tyler?) and Calgary will have assets they wouldn't have.
Good trade. Plus there was no space for Yegor in NJD.

  12. You are suffering from recency bias. Tofolli is a 50 point player who had an anomalous year. He was Sutter's pet player, and got the PP and top line playing minutes he'll never get anywhere else.

  13. I honestly would welcome a rebuild. Nice to see good young players grow into a team. Worried about how and why the Sutter situation went down….reeks of ownership overreaching/meddling. Hire good smart people and let them do their job.

  14. Do people actually forget that it's not just Connie making the calls by himself? There's a whole team of people that work at this together. He is surrounded by really smart hockey minds and talent evaluators. He just happens to have the title and be the poster boy. In Connie (and team) we trust! GFG!!

  15. Honestly, given the aversion teams seem to have to trading for players with current contracts at the moment and the terrible value every team is getting for players rn, the Toffoli trade looks very good, at least relatively. With Hanifin and Lindholm, the smart play might just to hold for now.

  16. Meh, I disagree, I think it's the journey not the destination. Who cares if they win if they weren't fun to watch? I remember Joe Sakic handing the cup directly to Ray Bourque much more often and fondly than nearly every cup since- and I have NEVER rooted for the Avs, lol. And the constant backstabbing- the mistreatment of the players, I haven't rooted for Vegas since they dropped Flower. Sportsmanship is dead unfortunately, now let's just watch them all kill each other come playoff time and throw some garbage at the thugs left once all the talent has been hurt.
