As a Wings fan I kinda hated this signing but hearing Steve say if the forwards are in good postion then Holl is fine makes me feel better. If there's one thing the Wings have looked under Newsy, it's structured.
What does Detroit see in him
3.4 for him isn't at all bad. But at the same time Gryz in Boston makes that money. Boston still needs to desperately clear cap. You could probably have gotten Gryz for a small amount of draft capital and maybe a prospect. And if you believe that Detroit is taking that next step. And that they are ready to complete. Now is the time to use prospects and draft capital to improve the team. Personally I think that would have made more sense. But I don't think that number is terrible for Holl and the term makes sense.
If they pair him with chiarot, i think he brings enough stay at home to make up for his mistakes mostly.

Steve Yzerman is turning up the heat on his seat. I've been defending his pragmatic approach but these moves today and at the draft are lackluster at best. Wings need to address their lack of goal scoring.

I don't understand….. I have watched him play, my eyes don't lie. What was Steve watching? Reimer too….. the tank continues I guess. Yzerman has been making alot of roster moves that get nice guys. We have no sandpaper. We have no bloodlust. It's a soft team outside of a couple guys.
Coach has a full year behind him, I'll start to be concerned if Detroit shits the bed this year, if they improve just a bit it's not a problem. As a Detroit fan for 50 years you have to be patient. But I understand in an Era where people have the attention span of about 30 seconds it's anguish.
So based on Leafs history that means Red wings win the cup in the next three years.
