They couldn't sign Orielly for 4.5, but signed Klingberg for just a little under that? Things are definitely not heading in the right direction. And Nylander wants 10+ million? Unless the core 4 realize that some concessions are necessary to build a winner, there is no hope of a lengthy playoff run. Everywhere, except for Toronto, superstars realize this. Not likely to see any success in my lifetime.

So they get a riight handed OFD that is bad on the defensive side. The guy is small for 6'3. 190 pounds is small man. I think the leafs are getting abit desperate given they lost alot of really good players today. I'm curious if any of the leafs players know this guy or have played with him before where maybe they have some synergy? If not, at 4.5 million thats too steep. They needed to get a high end dman and start paying up on the back end instead of giving all the cap away upfront. They need to trade Matthews man. Get some pics back. Get a solid dman and a 30 goal scorer. If the guy was clutch then I would say keep him and move Marner but he's not and they don't need his 40 goals. Too much money for what he gives in return.

A lot of crying over a couple million in free agent signings. I'm disappointed the Leafs couldnt keep Acciari and realistically he was the only one that could be re-signed. Bunting and ROR too expensive, Schenn unfortunately as well. IMO Treliving will be judged based on how he handles the big fish, particularly Nylander. Not gonna lose hair because we gave Reaves 1.3mil per 😂.

1. DO NOT overepay matthews or nylander; push comes to shove trade nylander
2. DO NOT go all in until Tavares is off the cap.
Take the 2 years Tavares is on the cap to re-tool and hopefully ahve some quality ELCs helping out in the future when you have a chance to stack a team for at least 3 consecutive years
Unmitigated disaster. Shanahan opted for a member of the old boy’s club of NHL executives who all sing from the same song sheet – my job is super hard and it is too much to ask of me to do anything creative or bold. While they cash their fat paycheques and chat to their buddies. Meanwhile smart, decisive leaders like MacCrimmon run circles around the old boy’s. We have seen the drafting of another undersized junior, a big raise for a 4c, the signing of a marginal 4th liner who is 36 years old and a new D man who has struggled mightily for 2 years. While 3 guys who everyone agrees led the way in playing playoff hockey (Schenn, Acciari, ROR) walk out the door. Time for a second NHL team in Toronto with real owners who hold their handsomely rewarded executives accountable.
If I'm 34 my motivation to sign wasn't increased after today's effort.

Overall its been a net negative. Anyone thinks otherwise is wrong. There was no way they were going to keep what they had so for a little while itll be bottom ten.

It'll take time for Treliving to sort out the mess Dubas left this team in. The players that left are replaceable plus this Leafs team barely won 1 round and it's a real weak FA pool..Leaf fans losing their minds over not resigning Schenn, ROR, Accari, etc. need to get a grip
