Today's moves just proves no one has a clue as to the problem with the Leafs. I can easily point them out – the core. They should have let go or traded pretty much everyone, and withheld as much salary as possible on the core, and do a hard reset.
Not only are they doing the exact opposite of what they should be doing, they are making even worth trades than Dubas did.
Mark my words, the GM and Shanahan will be gone in two years – and less than a year if they miss the playoffs, which at this rate this early huge red flag makes it a real possibility.
On the bright side looks like pits over paying I’m so shocked.

I'm sorry but even bringing in a Domi or Bertuzzi isn't going to fix much. Basically acquiring a Bunting type player back. They are going to be hurting down center after Matthews & Tavares as much as i kove Kampf he isn't a 3rd line C so that to ne is a glaring issue especially for all the talk about wanting to shift Tavares to the wing. Seeing someone like Duchene sign for 3 m to Dallas is disappointing. However what really sucks is letting Schenn & Acciari go for 4.75 and bringing Klingberg at 4.15 to be our next Gardiner/Barrie, I feel like people are happy about this deal forgot about them, don't get me wrong good player offensively but not the type of player the leafs at the moment, wasn't even a priority tbh. This was a tough day losing all of the depth but it seems they are content with mostly depth guys, prospects & the core four. I can't see them being any better next year and Buffalo, Detroit & Ottawa are all knocking on the door and have got better, while Boston, Florida & Tampa should remain around the same type of team they were last year. Hopefully leafs got somethings planned up during this summer because even bringing back Matthews & Nylander isn't going to be enough…

Before COVID hit, Dubas still gave too much money to Matthews, Marner, and Nylander; thankfully, Nylander played better than his contract, but at the time, we all thought 6.9 million was too much. Dubas, a rookie GM, got schooled, and we are still playing for it. I looked at capfriendly; no other team has a pay structure like the Leafs. Three players making over 10 million, Dubas was out of his goddamn mind when he rubber stamped those contracts, and it was before COVID, so don't give me this shit COVID fucked with the plan; the plan was already fucked with the money he gave out and the 5-year term to Matthews. I'm so damn sick of how this team is run, years of mismanagement, taking advantage of the best fans in hockey. When Matthews was drafted, I thought the curse was lifted, but I should have known better. We happened to draft three very skilled and yet very tame and meek hockey players. And then became the joke of the league when we gave them massive contracts. Even JT at 11 million was insane. And we are going to do it again because the Leafs have to. This team will not win a cup with this core as is. Matthews will get his 14 million, Marner will get his 13 million, and Nylander will get his 10.5 million. Just watch.
