  1. I'm just hoping we can get some major growth out of a guy like Holloway or Lavoie or someone down on our farm team

  2. Does that mean it’s only a couple days until Connor brown is an oiler??

  3. Let’s be honest, Ken backed himself into a corner when he gave contracts to Yamamoto and Jesse. This is a best case scenario for the oilers cap space and room for a SKILLED player! Now saying that Ken is doing everything possible to win now, it’s just a matter of who is coming in a D man or Conor Brown?

  4. Always like Yamamoto's effort but it just didn't work out when his cap at 3.1M. It sucks to lost Kostin, liked his energy and grit he brings. Oilers just can't afford what he asked.

  5. Why sign Nurse at8x9.25m? He is worth at best 5m. Sorry Holland, fix your mess.

  6. its pretty simple, if we want to sign Bouchard, we need cap space.

  7. I'll miss them both but Klim wanted too much and Yamo was a cap casualty. Take care all.

  8. I hate to lose Tammy but we need the cap space and I think the Kostin trade was a good way to show these rfas that they don’t have much choice!

  9. Forget about the bullshit let’s talk about the future considerations and maybe the future is KLIM KOSTIN

  10. strange that they move yamos 3.1 million and not use that to sign klim.🤔 maybe ken moves on washington tough guy.

  11. Oilers window is now. Draft picks will not help them. The cap space will allow them to get that bigger top six fwd or a top shutdown dman. I’ll be sorry to see koskin go and wish Yamo and koskin all the best!

  12. Klim will be kicking himself.
    Back to Bush league.

  13. Holland put this team in cap hell now oilers lose grit unreal Holland needs to be fired

  14. I think this was a good move even though I liked Klim Kostin. The Oilers need consistency and both of these players don't make themselves known on the ice often enough imo.

  15. Well there goes any toughness we had🤷🏽 we just got worse so hopefully Kenny has something planned out and not just filling those spots with guys like Holloway

  16. The Red Wings can afford to take some cap for a chance at getting Yamamoto on the right track. Kostin is just a side gamle, that probably won't work, but if they can get him to sign, an extra W for them. The Oilers need this cap. Win win I would say, but Red Wings get the bigger W.

  17. Sad to see kostin go. The guy is going to be a great hockey player

  18. Why sign pool party and Yamamoto to overpriced contracts and then dump both for zero .Makes no sense in the first place .Two more first round drafts that have been busts 🤮

  19. Cap space is a perfectly legitimate and acceptable trade return in many cases. This is one of them. In today's NHL, cap space is gold. Vegas was both brutal and efficient at dumping expensive players for nothing but cap space and look where they are today. We should not be so shy about doing this. It equates to solving a problem or un-making a mistake.

And if we want our 1st round picks to go for more than just cap space, the very simple fact is that they need to be worth more than cap space. That means we have to draft better players and do a better job of developing the ones we do draft.

It also means we have to NOT continue to sign middling players to long term, high dollar contracts which put us in cap hell to begin with. I don't know where this notion ever originated that we MUST spend to the cap all the time. And it's just my opinion but if we are spending to the cap on such a consistent basis, then we have a right to expect some return for that… in other words – Stanley Cups or at the very least, VERY deep playoff runs, not being continually punted in the 1st or 2nd round.

In any other industry, the expectation would be that if your budget was at or near the top, the results should be reflecting that or heads would be rolling. I don't know why we should be any different.

  20. I hate to see Kostin leave he became one of my favorites to watch but business is business. Moving Yamamoto for cap space was a good move I will miss him and the energy he brought to the team. Hopefully now the Oilers can sign a good player or two.

  21. The Oilers just need to draft better, or maybe have some better luck with 1st Rnd picks. Holland's gonna do what he's gotta do no matter where any player was picked.

  22. The more soon oilers trade mcdavid the more soon they win a cup. Mcdavid is more important than cup.

  23. That sucks to see both guys going …DETRIOT for no returns other than future consideration.

  24. I'm a big fan of future considerations. I hear he's going to be a star.

  25. The only thing is that they could not even get a pick returned. I hope this freed up cap space will help them to sign someone useful

  26. Why kostin😢 w.t.f. I get it the cap and all but Kostin!🤭 thanks again for the update, even if it sucked 😊

  27. Best part of moving Yamo is no buyout. Agree on Kostin , wanted to keep him . Future consideration could mean nothing or a gem. Only time will tell.

  28. Well glad they “traded” Yamo to save the money. Pissed that Kostin is not an Oiler anymore.

  29. If the oilers didn't pay that d.nurse so much money, mistake that was they might of had some extra dough
