  1. I think what many of us are worried about is that Willander becomes an adequate D man while Benson becomes a 30-40 goal scorer/80-90 point guy

  2. Ffs, if the Canucks could have had a little foresight they could have had Wallinder plus…

  3. Canucks spend so much effort with draft, sign and develop D men sitting in the AHL. Yet, management doesn’t seem to think highly of any of them. I do not understand the logic of this process.

  4. if canucks picked Benson then drance would be saying the canucks really missed out on willander 🤷‍♂

  5. Tired of hearing about Benson. Wingers are EASY to get…. Canucks have two that they're trying to give away for FREE. RHD are nearly impossible to get.

  6. I can totally see this Juolevi Tkachuk thing in the future already…that Benson ends up being Tkachuk like in points and say EVEN if Willander do not end up a total bust like Juolevi(because i believe he unlikely does) so let's say in a few yrs Willander ends up like someone like Moritz Seider ok…we WILL still then say "yeah ok Willander is alright for us but we could have gotten Benson and look he's up for the Conn Smyth!" So yeah lol i can totally see that's how we will see and view this in the future. But my personal take on this is….if my aforementioned hypothetical is going to turn true, we should NOT look back n regret that we took Willander because in the end he end he turned out to be exceptionally good and most imortantly valuable to us because I'm willing to wager that odds are we are still a team by then that lacks defence. So if we end up picking a player who plays exceptional and is valuable to us, then we should never look back at all the "better" players we could have got.

  7. Benson looks good for restocking pure skill, but for the north-south game they say they want more of, Winnipeg are probably over the Moon to get Barlow. I don't mind that Team Rutherford went with best Swedish defenceman available this time, but it would have been great to have more draft picks for this draft instead of trading them away.

  8. Perfection is the enemy of the good. Take Willander and develop him into a good, maybe great, right-shot D. The time to address that was now. And it’s not like they need only one.

  9. They need tough bottom 6 forwards and new D if they want to win now. Defense first.

  10. Thomas the biggest liberal hockey analyst. With his negative narrative always the victim lol ….

  11. " Massive wave of buyouts " = 4, Thanks for your analysis Chicken Little

  12. I dont like the idea of trading Myers with a sweetener right now. Give gim 3rd pairing minutes and trade him at the deadline for a pick. His cap hit will be almost nothing. Any contender will be able to add him for depth and as an expiring.

  13. After not drafting a D man for years, the Canucks went hard to draft a bunch of D-men. I wish they had not traded the first and second, or the way the draft unfolded, they would have been able to draft both Wilander and Sandin-Pellikka. These two were compared to be like Hamhius and Zubov, and if Foote and Gonchar can groom each into those roles, the team would have been fine, more than fine in fact, for a decade to come. But now the team only had one, but added Soucey, Cole, etc., through FA… the team is once again trying to win now… and by winning it seems like they just want to get into the playoffs and hope that the team will catch lightning in a bottle and have a surprising deep run.

  14. Hopefully Bedard leaves in his first possible chance at free agency and signs with Canucks
