A true slow and steady approach to ensure that the team is good for a long time, not just a year or two. I think guys like Compher and Holl (more so Holl) are being brought in to mentor the young defense, not turn the tides of the game.
The only people doubting this man simply have no clue how the world of hockey works. Simple as that. Impatience is a bad look. When he was (re)hired back in 2019, he told everyone to be patient. Never gave a numbered timeline. But teams that properly rebuild are looking at 5-7 years until real cup contention. We're in year 4. We'll be getting some playoff experience this season but won't be contending for another 2-3 years.
Every cup winning team in the last 10 years plus has scored by committee.
Two or three superstars is not enough to attack spontaneously, when the opposition has you figured out. They can shut down a couple guys but not a whole team
All these critics, like what would you do in the alternatives to make the team SIGNIFICANTLY better? Sign a guy who is looking for 7 years 7mil a year in Burtuzzi but never available a full season? Or DeBrincat who may score 30+ goals but nothing else, at 7*8? The PLD situation tells us if you wait a great player will make himself available to you, and it will happen more often in the future.
Steveâs truly building a team. This free agency tells me he thinks the skill is there and will develop. Now, he needs toughness. Meanness, grit, size. Thatâs what he got. Remember, always remember, King Clancyâs words: if you canât beat them in the alley, you wonât beat them on the ice.
Ilitch's son has him on a short leash. He did so much better in Tampa. He should be making some huge signings just like he did there. He's going to end up leaving without doing anything as significant as he did for the Lightning.

Took a boat load of right shot D for trade bait later in the year.

The Yzerplan is the only thing I believe in more than Joe Hendry.
Agree with Yzerman. Veleno needs to adapt. 9 goals wonât be acceptable unless your an elite defensive AND physical forward

Shocking he has not fixed Detroit yet. He did great in Tampa

I fully expect anyone who is having a career year at the end of next season to be traded for more draft picks. It'll be a few years everyone!
When will the Wings figure of the static microphone⊠come on
