This is all about placeholders and giving the kid some room on the ice. The team seems to be on a 3-5 year rebuild. When JT and Kane came to the Hawks they had a D core in place and players like Havlat, Sharp, Ladd, Bolland, Buff, Versteeg. They exchanged Havlat for Hossa and all of a sudden, everyone was moved down a line becasue JT and Kane took over. This roster has a LOT of work to do. You cannot build a team to make the playoffs, you must build it to win the cup.

Great video but the line up card is totally wrong Boris Katchouk, and Joey Anderson are probably not going to play they will see time in the ahl, Lukas Reichel will finally play his first full NHL season. So I don't know what you are on but the hawks are going to bad but not as bad as you think they are going to be.
Come on now I would think you might know something about Hockey. Think Salary cap here. The Hawks are well below the Salary Cap threshold. They had to spend a lot of money on short term contracts to get above it in order to wheel and deal next year. Spending some $$ for Hall and Perry to move the Puck forward is not a bad move when you had to spend a lot of money anyways.

It's year 2 of a 5-8 year rebuild. Bedard cuts a year or two off that maybe. The team will be interesting to watch with some of the kids, but anyone pumping the tires on the rebuild right now is delusional. Kyle from Chicago has a plan, and is sticking to it. This team is much less terrible than the early 2000's Hawks. I believe.
idk why people are feeling bad for Bedard usually when a team gets the 1st overall pick they do suck ass it's normal the 2005 pens sucked ass, 2006-2007 Blackhawks were worse then they were now they didn't even broadcast their home games on tv and to be honest neither the blue jackets or ducks needed Bedard and they both got great players anyways and great up and coming players the blue jackets have players like kent Johnson who will be good in the future and the ducks have Zegras, troy terry, and a amazing goalie in Gibson and if Chicago plays it's cards right then yes they could contend for a playoff spot next year or the year after
I think a lot of people are missing the point regarding the corey perry contract. yes hes over paid…but hawks were well below league min for cap usage. His contract is literally just to get them to qualify properly. hes on hook for one year so they can get rid of him when its time to offer bedard a proper contract after her Entry level contract expires. Hall, Perry and Foligno are all one years. if any one of them shines this season…i'd expect ONE of them to get a qualifying offer to stick around…but these guys are legit just veteran place holders.
That said..Mrazek is not gonna take the hawks far. he has some great nights…but many nights where he just doesnt give his team enough of a chance. hawks will need to make a splash with a new goalie if they wanna get anywhere.

The one thing a team shouldn’t do when properly trying to rebuild is panic sign 5-6 UFAs from a relatively weak class just to be “competitive”.
