I’ve mentioned it on other posts, but a nagging, minor ankle injury to Luukkonen would go a long way to explain a few things:
1) The February/March drop off compared to his stellar December west coast trip and Rookie of the Month January
2) only playing 1 out of the final 11 games, even before Levi was signed
3) uncertainty around Luukkonen getting back to 100%/other goaltender injury concerns being a reason GMKA/Granato appear to not rule out the possibility of another 3 goalie rotation to start the year

Didn’t the gm have him over to his house for dinner recently and reassure him that he had a future with the club? That might just be Reddit lore, but a 6k/Levi tandem is something I’m definitely looking forward to in the years coming.

Are we allowed yet to say this is the third offseason surgery in so many years for UPL?
I’m not saying the man is injury prone or unable to hold up to the rigors of an nhl season, but the data is there.

Im ok with Levi, UPL, Comrie. This year is still a rebuilding year. A year where we should expect playoff but still many of our prospects aren’t quite ready. Levi has showed a lot of promise and UPL streaks. Between the additions on defense and hopefully Granato able to instill some better defense from the forwards I expect better results. It still isn’t the right time to bet the farm and anchor yourself to a goalie. Especially not a veteran long in the tooth
