Joyeux lundi! If they would have moved or bought out granlund, they could have met Zucker's $5.3m/1yr deal from AZ, no?
I hated Lars before when he was with the Caps. He scored big goals against the Pens. That was a long time ago.
To be honest I think the bottom six is only marginally better than last season. There's still virtually zero offense there. Nieto and Acciari are okay, but Lars Eller is past his prime. He's the signing that I understand the least. Would've much rather signed a young player than Lars Eller.
Zohorna brought really good offense for the meager minutes he got. 2.34 5v5 P/P60 as a Penguin.
21 goals for, 3 against with him on the ice.
He'd be on my 3rd line until he does something to lose it. Woulda made the playoffs if he was a regular and not lost on waivers, since all the Pens were missing was 1 win. He's better than the ghost of Blueger, Carter, DOC, Poehling, Archibald.
Wow!!! Hunter don’t jinx Crosby or malkin like that lolll they’ll be healthy for the whole season positive thinking bro 😄🙏🏾
Jeff Carter not a third line center? He could have just had a bad year.
Overall I think that the moves are good. Maybe should now find a way to go for Gibson who wants a trade. Maybe send Jarry and something else and lose Karlsson aspirations
I don’t think Dubas is done. I think he attempts to acquire another bottom 6 player with offensive capabilities.
I look for him to try and aggressively trade either Granlund or Petry. I absolutely, do not think he is done. He knows, he still has work to do. Remember, people should know, this will take time. You’ve got some bad contracts: Carter, Granlund, Petry that no one will take off your hands for nothing. I still think Petry or Granlund gets moved, Carter is stuck here in what is probably his last year of playing.
Dubas isn’t done ✊🏻
I dont think a center is what we need. All of the bottom 6 centers are strong defensive centers. We really need a strong shooter on the wing. We need finishers. Bonino wasnt that strong of a goal scorer, but you know who was Kessel. Now do i want Kessel again, no that ship has sailed big time.
What if you move Granlund/Nylander up to the 2nd line RW, and move Rust down to 3rd line to even things out?
Guentzel – Crosby – Rakell
Smith – Malkin – Nylander
Granlund – Eller – Rust
DOC – Acciari – Nieto
Another great episode. Totally agree about the bottom six but I’m comforted hearing you think Kyle isn’t done!
Tatar? Suter? tarasenko for 1 yr? tyler motte (he's only 28 but i always think he's older)? nosek? can stasny skate or is he baked?
With the team being over the cap, currently, there will be more trades and signings incoming…we don't even have O'Connor, or Smith, signed, yet.
I think that the signings of Hellberg and Nedelkovic say that DeSmith is done, in the 'Burgh.
Sadly, there aren't really any good young Centers available in Free Agency, except maybe Jesper Boqvist, unless you want to offer sheet someone like Trevor Zegras. Maybe Pius Suter or Oskar Sundqvist…
I expect Petry, and maybe Rutta or Ruhwedel to be moved in some trade. Probably Granlund, too. But, they may wait to see if Smith, Poulin, or any other prospects can win a roster spot, out of camp, before they move the older players.
I believe they’ll find a way to get rid of Granlund and get a 3rd line center, but if they have third line wingers of DOC and then either Nylander or Puustinen, that would be decent too. I agree 100% percent that I wouldn’t want Petterson a part of a trade for Karlsson or any trade for that matter lol and I hate to say this but bringing back Jarry was the best option for the Pens. He was the best UFA option for goalies in a very weak class and any trade for an elite level goalie would’ve cost the Pens more than their depleted farm system could’ve bore
