It’s one thing to be un happy about something or complain about a pick amongst you group ur friends family what ever, but don’t complain about it online give the kid his props, all things considered yes Montreal already has a good defence core in young d men, but this kids good, he is big he and he fills a hole with right shot defence men which we have very little of, he is now the highest draft pick on defence we have he has some good upside, let’s see what happens, in a few years we may be praising this kid for how good he is and he’s the future, as much as I love Jordan Harris arber Barron, Hutson, we really only have 1 defence men that I think is a first pairing defence man or has the potential to be a first pairing d and that’s guhle, he sure we have young nhl d men but we don’t have superstar calibre defence and if the habs believe this kids got that potential then I’m all for it, and it’s likely we see either baron harris kovacevic mailloux norlinder a few of these more then likely used as pieces to get forwards to the team, so I’m exited to see what happens even if we took a forward at 5 they would have not been on the team nor would I want them on the team right away let’s see this kids development hopeful for the future, to come out and complain about a 17 year old kid online I understand he’s now and nhl player he has to deal with backlash and Montreals a tuff market but u have not even seen this kid play, 95% of probably have not even looked at highlights of the kid or watched a game and I’m included in that I don’t know diddly doo squat about him, I wanted mitchkov, but I am exited and happy for reinbacher anyone who complains about it frankly ur a bum
I have nothing about the kid, it's just that it's been 20 years since we had a single true elite forward pick, and after tanking multiple times we are still at the same spot. Montreal is the only organization to have so few elite players for so long and that is a scientific fact. Fans are fed up. We are the most passionate fans and cruelly, we have the weakest talent scouts in the league. Now THAT is sad.

As a habs fan I really think people are way too upset about this pick. Ofcourse we think Michkov has higher potential but David seems like a fantastic kid and who has a really promising future he has all the tools to be a top guy on our team.

I predict 1 more top 10 pick before they are competing alot more (even though i think they still can surprise people next year) and i think people need to realize the offence doesnt even look bad when you also need to consider that the D arent all stay at home dmen.. they can play amazing defence and they all can pass the puck really well! This good D will lead to alot of goals as well! The habs are alot more set and will be a better playoff team with this move.. rein will surprise many

I think the hate & criticism is very warranted but it should be directed at Hughes & the management team.
Reinbacher has nothing to do with this, he’s a good kid & will be a solid player for us I’m sure but management shouldn’t pretend to be shocked by how bad the backlash is, this is an inexcusable pick to make at 5 with the players that were left on the board.
I feel so bad for Reinbacher because I don’t think he’ll ever be able to live up to the expectations that the management team just forced on his shoulders.

Holy balls, it looks like everybody just became a recruiting expert overnight. Every pick is somewhat of a gamble, and there is more at play than just looking at a ranking sheet made by a couple of journalists. If the Habs were picking first to third maybe I would have been confused by this pick, but for now, let's just see what the guy can do.
Last year the fans booed Slafkovský because they were sure that Wright was the best pick. Serves them right. You would think they would have learned something before being backseat GMs once again.

I like the team Hughes is building with trades/contracts. I’m not yet convinced of their draft picks yet, but I’m willing to wait and see.
Not getting Michkov stings, but there has to be something we don’t know if so many teams that are rebuilding (and can wait 3 years) passed on him.
I feel bad for him, as well. At least the kid will be able to commiserate with Kirby Dach, who got similar treatment from many Blackhawks fans right after he was drafted. It was pretty bad then, although nowhere near this bad. I hope he proves all the haters wrong. Kirby, too, for that matter.

The claims surrounding this whole experience are blown out of proportion. 1) He didn't look happy because they tried to interview him while walking down to the stage. He was confused. Panelists were yapping in his ear while he was hugging his family.
2) This whole "he won't play in North America because of bullying" thing. He said in his post-selection interview that he would return to Europe for at least one year. Though I don't doubt habs fans overreacted. We tend to do that…unfortunately.

As a Habs fan I was surprised with the pick but not mad in any way. The real shame come from people already talking shit about him. History will tell us if it was a good or a bad pick. Me, I can just root for the guy and hope he enjoys his time and develops well here.
