Detroit played Zadina too early. He's a good player, just not a great goalscorer, which was all the hype in his draft which is a shame because his all round game is decent, maybe he's just a bit too small to be a regular 3rd liner in the NHL. The goalscoring hype was always overblown, his shot is ok but he doesn't get himself in good positions to shoot like most prolific goalscorers do, and his shots are predictable. He's a better passer than shooter tbh. Hope someone takes a chance on him. I just don't think his profile of player is really the Detroit blueprint.

The real hole remaining with the Leafs is defense…and goaltending. I think they need to trade off Nylander…and bring in a high quality first or second line defenseman. They could use two of them, to be honest….as they have very little depth on defense right now.

What do you think of Nylander's value? Apparently he wants 10+ million a year. The majority of the Leafs have no movement clauses so this will be interesting to watch going forward because at some point they need to break up that big 4. They are above the salary cap and need to get rid of Murray right now. For all the smart people that supposedly have worked in that organization they are one of the dumbest ran teams in the league.

Marc Staal is another reach by the Flyers. The term and money aren't bad, especially if he produces, but the history of Flyers obtaining d-men that actually help the team is pretty abysmal overall.
Chicago or Vancouver could give Zadina a chance.

Zadina is the last of Ken Hollands High draft picks and glad we are about to purge ourselves of his ties here..Drafting Zadina instead of Quinn Hughes was a disaster..Zadina was all talk, no goals.

When the next CBA comes around, what do you think about every team being afforded one compliance/no penalty buyout per season? All current/standard buyout rules would still apply, this would just be an “in addition to” kind of thing.

Funky Cold Zadina..
For 1.8 I would take a flyer on him, he's never been with another team with different structure, sometimes all you need is a change of scenery and a fresh start with new positive attitudes. If you can get 35-40 points out of him it's a win. He's had good numbers in the AHL but definitely needs some work on the defensive side

I remember when he was drafted, he said something like "Any team that passes on me, I'll fill your nets with pucks." He didn't ener end up doing that but I really liked his confidence in himself back then. If nobody claims him, I could see him playing in Grand Rapids if he doesn't get bought out at the next opportunity. Whether or not he ever makes it back up on Detroit's roster is doubtful.

They don't have a full NHL roster right now. They only have 10 forwards at the NHL level and 5 defencemen. They also haven't signed Gustavsson, so unless there plan in goal is a 38-year old and a rookie who played mostly with the ECHL last year, they are not done.

fellow Leafs fans, you will love Dylan Gambrell. Not gonna get a lot of points, but he will be one of the first to drop the gloves with ANYONE who gets out of hand with any player on the Leafs roster. Great team guy, great glue guy. A typical Treliving Leafs era signing.
I remember when Zadina was upset about slipping in the draft to what was it again…..8th? He said he was going to use it as motivation to make the teams who passed on him pay. Now he’s just hoping any team gives him a shot to get back on a regular shift in the NHL.
Edit: That’s right, The Wings took him at 6 – allowing Van to grab Quinn Hughes at 7.
