  1. Does Pettersson re-sign this summer or decide on his future when his contract ends next year?

  2. I do think petterson will stay. But if he decides he doesnt want to then the canucks need to completely rebuild. none of this half ass retool shit. The owner absolutey SUCKS he NEEDS sell the house if that happens.

  3. You need to get over turtle boy and gaudreau leaving your shit city and team. They're gone….accept it

  4. No more than 10 Mill/year (and 10mill/ is even too much I think). He's not been a proven consistent player. Stop over-rating and hyping him, Canucks need a true superstar, not a point-getter on an offensive team that doesn't play any D. This is like paying top dollar for an Ilya Kovalchuk, which is only a burden to the team.

  5. As a homegrown Canucks fan, if this premonition of yours takes place, I will legitimately stop watching the Canucks…

I was born in '95, so I've only been with the team through their journey in 2011, but my father is getting old and if he dies before the Canucks win a cup… I just can't follow this team after this season if that's the case.

  6. People don't realize that loyalty means nothing now. Players want money or they want to win (sadly can't have both unless you're Jack Eichel).

  7. Outside of injury there’s basically no reason for petey to sign right now. The team has demonstrated an inability to win and the teams long term prospect aren’t that great.

Furthermore, with the cap rising over the next couple of years he could just wait for that and get more cash then this year

Also they have an option to just give petey one year at his qualifying offer and show him.

  8. Sorry, Vancouver is a very desirable city, its nothing like the Calgary or Winnipeg situations

  9. I'm pretty sure Rutherford has enough experience to know how to manage top player's contract negotiations as a 3 time Stanley Cup winning manager while mentoring Allvin along the way. No sweat required at this time.

  10. I’m getting a little sick of this whole narrative that all players on Canadian teams pay more taxes than those on American teams. If this were true, all Canadian teams would be at the bottom of the list. Calgary and Edmonton are the cheapest places to play in the NHL. Vancouver is 8th. Winnipeg is 11th. Toronto and Ottawa are 18th. Montreal is dead last(something they’re used to).

  11. I think he’s gone no matter playoffs or not
VAN, like the rest of Canada isn’t exactly a place to play at this time. And VAN at this stage is not contenders like the Isles with JT in 2018, and outside of that 2020 run, hasn’t been.

  12. The problem is guys underperforming a couple of years, then shining in the last year. They expect to be paid relative to their last year, so they make it look great. Is Pettersson going to score 100+ points from now on if you pay him big? Nobody knows. Why not let him prove himself. See what his numbers are halfway through. If they are high, pay him well. If they are mediocre, then negotiate from that.
