It wasn't unexpected for McLeod to file for arbitration. Most eligible players do to, as you say, force the issue. Remember folks, Arb rights can bite you as a team where you're paying a lot more than you wanted to. Bouch, by contrast, doesn't have those rights and we can short change him and there is very little he can do (I mean refuse to play but that's not going to go over well). If there isn't an offer sheet to try and force the issue Bouch could get a low ball price and either play or not in the NHL. I don't think they'd do that to him (I mean do you want a potential elite player PO'd at the team for being cheap?) but they'll shave it as much as they can. Take care all.
Nurse and Bouchard together???? LMAO that's a disaster waiting to happen. #1 pair should be Ekholm and Bouchard, need someone defensively minded to be with Nurse (either Desharnais or Ceci who had a bad year last year but he was injured hopefully he can return to his prior year form). Nurse and Bouchard is a recipe for disaster. They're both offensive players. Nurse needs an Adam Larsson type player who he did well with when Larsson was with the club. Bouchard is better with Ekholm. If they want to keep Broberg its now or never and Desharnais should stay as 7th or 8th Defenceman. They need a right hand Defenceman to play in the top 4.

I would try nurse with broberg on 2nd pairing with ekholm and Bouchard on the first pairing. But the gm’s and coaches know what they are doing

I’d keep nurse ceci, ekholm Bouchard and put kulak with broberg to start. Broberg just needs to get comfortable. Once he gets comfortable I believe he can be a really solid top 4 guy.
Like the guy. But factually not able to shoot/finish so is ave for the 800mins or so gets to play. Gets ~10 goals/assists from pucks that come to him. Is learning & good attitude… but $1mil each Yr is not bad for skills that many can provide? Can get more as he works on his shooting etc… & defending.. Ave ~20 blk shots, 20 tkAway, 40 gvAway..
Disagree with you Patrick; Broberg like Bouchard will improve with Ekholm’s experience and ability to nurture young talent. Broberg will just get better; I believe Bouchard has evolved into an established dman for our team and can be put into any defensive situation other than killing penalties. Bouchard deserves a 1st d pairing with Nurse, I think he’ll help Nurse and due to Bouchard’s performance in the playoffs he’s deserves to be put into these situations because I believe Bouchard can take another step with his defensive play. He’s proved he can be productive. I’m not happy lo lose Kostin and happy Yamamoto is dressing for Seattle next year, wish him well. Kenny Holland has a lot of confidence in Dylan Holloway’s evolution as an Oiler, as well as Broberg’s and so am I. I’d like to agree with Coach Woodcroft quoting him as saying that Broberg will have a good pro career with the Oilers for many years to come. That’s all for now.

I would keep Ekholm with Bouchard for the first 3 months. We need a better first 3 months then the last 2 years. We cant expect to go like 25-5 like we did ttb e last 2 years to make a good playoff spot

Ekholm would benefit Broburg big time. Look what he did for Bouchard
Give him what he wants, Then trade him for a draft pick. He missed 30 games last season. As a fan I wasn't that impressed with his play. He's going to be trouble every time a contract comes up. Bouchard is a far more important player that cannot afford to lose.
