schenn is one of the ones who ages really well. he will be effective for the duration of his contract. i don't usually care about a player when they leave the canucks but i hope luke all the success for his time in nashville. varna is 3 hours away from toronto and a tiny community. i could see ryan not liking the attention he got in toronto.

All of the above imo…and I will add that O'Reilly is a musician and Nashville is a good place to be for a guy like Ryan. I wonder too how Bert will handle all the hooplah in Toronto, as he's an outdoorsman type. Time will tell.
O'reilly isn't a "hometown boy", he's from Bluewater, ON which is 3 hours away from Toronto.

Ryan O'Reilly didn't want to address the obvious: he felt like the leafs isn't built nor has the drive and proper attitude to be successful in post season. Boom…that's the real elephant in the room.
Once you play in the TML system – you realize you b3come a secondary citizen behind the big 6 salaried. TML will NEVER change. My bet: TML throws out a $14-15MM per year contract to Matthews. Nylander will then want $10-12MM a year. And gawd knows what Marner will want???. So – things will just get worse. Is TML getting into the Detroit former problem: high priced talent that cannot be traded and no way out!!!

ROR left because Keefe is a horrible coach, he did not adjust at all, Marner tried to carry the puck into Florida's end every time and FL just over loaded that side every time, Marner lost the puck and now our 1st line is chasing the puck in our own end , Matthews didn't suck he just had no chance to touch the puck in Florida.s end. As soon as they announced Keefe was coming back that really make's me scared. Shanahan himself said the Leaf's need a GM with more experience , we got that, now we need a President and Coach with experience too.
