[NHL network reported this morning the canes are looking to obtain pieces for an Erik Karlsson trade.

I think the general consensus amongst rumors and speculation is that it’d be Fabbro and a first (second, maybe) to the Canes, Pesce to Nashville, then promptly flipping that package along with a Canes first or whatever else they’re interested in to SJ for Karlsson.

The problem on social media is that whether it’s because of his tenure on the team or due to his family’s presence on social media people are very attached and have an inflated view of his worth sometimes. He’s worth a lot, for sure, being an RD but I think we all can say pretty confidently it’s going to be a nasty contract 2+ years from now, coupled with whatever money he’s asking. Someone like Slavin will age far better at whatever term/money than he will.

Would I be mad if the Canes signed him to that lengthy term? Nah. But I trust the organization and fully believe he’ll slow down. Nor do I blame the player for seeking the bag because he’s been critically underpaid.

Tony is a whole other bag of worms for obvious reasons but anyone that thinks he’d play any other role other RD3/PPQB2 in the event Pesce is traded isn’t well tuned with how the team operates.

But I thought if we sacrificed Pesce we could bring Rod back on the team!!!

I agree with you, I’m tired of the rumors.

I’m just going to wait to see what happens, it’ll be just as effective as jumping at every rumor.

  4. EK wouldn’t be a Pesce replacement, Orlov already is.

We definitely arent getting askarov, that’s for certain. Though I like to rub it in preds fans faces that their defense is terrible and theyd be lucky to trade an unproven ahl goalie for a top 4 (top 2 on some teams).
