Good grief, so the Canucks start the season hosting the Oilers for one game and then immediately off on a 5 game road trip that takes them completely across the continent to Florida. I get maybe starting the season with a road trip through closer California or the Canadian Prairie teams, but all the way to Florida? The NHL needs to fix their algorithm.

The Canucks special teams coaching on the penalty kill has been killing them for years. They've been picking up one PK specialist every season and then dumping them because they don't work out. Lazar was the latest failed acquisition, but then they get to watch them flourish once they leave the Canucks. If Pearson returns and is in game shape that gives them a journeyman with secondary penalty killing ability, but they still desperately need a couple penalty killing specialists: a defenceman and a centre who can win faceoffs.

Another season, another schedule that looks like it's designed to screw western Canadian teams. At least the Canucks don't start the season on a long road trip where if they come out of it at .500, it will be a miracle.

When you draft D men in the top 15 you really see how many busts there are. Unless the guy has BOTH good offensive and defensive skill don't draft them. Just take a look at past drafts and theres always a total bust and it's usually a 2 way or defensive D man… Please Canucks make sure the D man you take has good offensive skills not merely adequate. Do I need to bring up Juolevi ?
